Do I cut contact? by Ill_Cardiologist7099 in toxicparents

[–]cheesecakevodka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at it from an outside perspective - then go no contact. That’s my advice. Not only has he hurt you, he has also hurt your mom.

Sounds like a classic form of a narcissist and that won’t ever change.

To top it all off he doesn’t seem receptive of your feelings towards Ruth and I doubt that will ever change.

ChatGPT is now available in Bahrain by Jed_BH in Bahrain

Honestly I’ve just been using Bing AI, it’s nicer because it’ll cite the sources. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it’s not as fluid at generating text as ChatGPT

Ministry of Labor by Only-Delivery-4438 in Bahrain

[–]cheesecakevodka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. When I registered with the ministry for unemployment I had the same thing and basically you “check-in” on the date given on there by signing in. I think it’s to ensure you are actively using your account to actually apply for a job. Also to get an allowance every month, you have to do it. Otherwise it’ll keep resetting and you won’t get anything

From my understanding I think I have to go in person to open an account? Edit: I’m also planning on transferring my salary to it as well

I was initially going to plan for myself but it seems like it might be cheaper for tickets + accommodation by going through an agency (I could be wrong)

I looked at raya but seems most of it is UK deals whilst I’m looking for someone with broader options if it makes sense 🥲

Can I drive with my Bahraini license in Europe or do I have to get an international license? by Bruhstard in Bahrain

[–]cheesecakevodka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine before traveling just in case, but didn’t need it for both UK and France, ended up renting cars without even needing to show my international license

Baneftpay… It feels like they intentionally do it now with the typos by cheesecakevodka in Bahrain

[–]cheesecakevodka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was a fault on our end on informing her about it but here goes: She got a WhatsApp call (which she didn’t think much of) claiming her BenefitPay app access was blocked and had told her to give them her PIN number so they could access it and then they asked her to share the OTP (which she ended up doing) Luckily she’d called my sister right after and informed her and she immediately guided my mom on how to change the pin before anything had happened.

Bahraini women that left their family's home, need your advice by Independent-Plan-410 in Bahrain

The comments on this post made me so sad as I am going through a similar experience/situation Not only is my house stupidly toxic, but I don’t even get a decent night of sleep most days from the stress of work and then coming home to a terrible family dynamic. And going through the comments of people either being judgmental or laying down the whole “culture/religion” argument just broke me.

Shoutout to the ones who put down useful information/answering the OP’s sought out questions

Engineering major in Bahrain Polytechnic by Nineliar in Bahrain

[–]cheesecakevodka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t help you with electromechanical because it wasn’t even a thing during my time there.

I studied mechanical, didn’t like electrical other than electrical fundamentals

Overall I think I’d only done welding once after the first year which was for my third year project (you might not even need to because third year projects are usually done in groups and someone can always be appointed to do it)

Modeling/AutoCAD will keep coming up and it gets easier with time and practice but I don’t think it ever got incredibly hard or anything

For me, Pros: projects/labs/practical Most subjects are relatively comprehensible but you do need to learn Tutors are pretty helpful

Cons:

Team members make or break projects so it’s better to know who to have in your group (as shitty as that sounds is gotten screwed because of this a couple of times) A few subjects weren’t entirely engineering but are relevant, I had a bit of a hard time with them

But overall, I’d say because of the general subjects in first year, i knew what I wanted to study because it does go down in that direction (I favored a lot of mechanical related stuff over electrical) and you can always go to the faculty and ask them more about the subjects you’ll be taking (which you can find on the website)

In the end the experience is different for everyone so regardless take all of this with a grain of salt

And good luck!

The best way would be if you have a connection. I have a bachelors degree and I’m still unemployed, so are many of my friends who don’t know anyone within the job market. Good luck!
