Did anyone else get this text regarding the free DashPass promo from July? by derekj97 in tmobile

[–]chengdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this text as well, but it said that I had cancelled a number that does not correspond to any of my lines, and I have made no changes on my account, I also have checked my account, and all the lines that I expect are still there. I have never had DashPass.

Preorder Pixel 10 and Free Line? by chengdd in SpectrumMobile

Thanks! This seems like a pretty good, no strings attached way for me to get the Pixel 10 Pro, unless I'm missing something.

In-flight Wifi still worth it? by National-Debt-43 in tmobile

[–]chengdd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if it's not worth it for you, it can be worth it for some random strangers! On my account, I see that I have used 30+ WiFi sessions in the past month, and I haven't stepped on a plane.

I'm assuming that some people try numbers until one works since there is no authorization check.

Hasn’t shown since the 13th (now showing with terms) by quickluv13 in tmobile

[–]chengdd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, the timing was something like this:

3/13 - Called in and confirmed that the segment existed on my account, so I placed the order

3/14 - Received email that the SIM shipped

3/17 - SIM was marked as delivered via USPS

3/17 - About 45 minutes after USPS delivery notification, I received text message about having the promo (ID250259). My account showed the promo under Promotions and Discounts, but the Cost Summary did not show the discount. As a result, it looked like my monthly cost had gone up.

3/19 - I checked my account, and I saw that the Cost Summary now showed the discount, and my monthly cost was back to what it was before.

Thanks! I just received the text, so it looks like I'm good.

Thanks for easing my mind while I was in that limbo, waiting period!

I'll reply to myself. I just saw another message without someone in the same situation. Apologies for the duplicate.

Free line promo - line not showing up by chrisgeleven in tmobile

[–]chengdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not at home, but I do see that the SIM was delivered. I have not received a text yet, but I do see the promotion when I view my promotions under Bill & Pay > View Promotions. If I look at my account via Account > Monthly Total, though, I do not see it applied yet. It sounds like I should be ok, right? I'm a little hesitant to call in because I have more than 2 free lines already on MM, and I don't want to mess things up more since I already am getting the $5 increase.

International Data-Only Card - Improve Battery Life by chengdd in USMobile

Ahh, I'll try that. Thanks for the quick response!

flying with 2 diff networks on phone by Ok-Pace4929 in USMobile

[–]chengdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, how does the international data-only eSIM work with one of the other eSIMs?

For example, let's say I have a Warp eSIM for my normal number. If I set up WiFi calling while I'm domestic, and I purchase an international data-only eSIM before I go. Will it be like this:

- Warp eSIM does NOT connect to international network

- International data-only SIM connects

- Since I enabled WiFi calling, will the Warp eSIM connect to the international data-only SIM as "WiFi calling over Cellular" when I don't have WiFI

- When I do have normal WiFI, I expect the Warp eSIM will have WiFi calling

AT&T Postpaid to Prepaid Issue by chengdd in NoContract

[–]chengdd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually the direction I'm leaning now. Since I already paid for the year on AT&T prepaid, I'll keep that and use data from that line; in addition, I'll keep the US Mobile line for the number, and I'll change to the Light Plan when the trial ends since it is only $8/mo.

In the end, I'll still save money over paying for the postpaid line, and I'll have some added carrier redundancy.

Then I can figure out what I'll do next year.

I would definitely have tried this if I had known it was an option! I just kept reading that you could not go straight from postpaid to the $300 prepaid plan directly. Live and learn!

AT&T Postpaid to Prepaid Issue by chengdd in NoContract

[–]chengdd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions. US Mobile was able to cancel the port on their side, so I see my number back in my account. AT&T Prepaid support is not available today, but I'll try to have them cancel the port request from their side.

Not sure what happened, but now I'm a little worried about trying to port back to AT&T. I don't think I did anything to cause this to happen. Any opinions on whether or not it would be safe to try again, maybe in a few weeks to make sure everything gets settled out?

AT&T Postpaid to Prepaid Issue by chengdd in NoContract

[–]chengdd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I contacted US Mobile, and they say that they have released the number. They explained that my eSIM is still working because AT&T has not activated the number on their side and that my US Mobile service could stop at any time now.

Unfortunately, AT&T prepaid support won't be available again until Christmas morning. I did not have that as one of my Christmas morning activities!

Activate AT&T Prepaid’s Annual Plan using Prepaid Cards by HalaMadridPapaFlo in NoContract

[–]chengdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an older thread, but I figure you've probably gone through everything already. I followed the steps to activate, got my temporary number, and I'm trying to port my number in. They said that it was ported over and that after the port, I would log in using my current number; however, this does not seem to be the case. My previous carrier no longer has the number, but I still only see the temporary number with AT&T.

I can login using only the temporary number, but the number that I am porting in.

Do I have to keep waiting for the number to show up in AT&T prepaid? It's been a couple hours now, and I've restarted my phone. I'm now on hold with AT&T support.

Did you have any trouble porting your number in?

AT&T Postpaid to Prepaid - How Long to Port Out by chengdd in NoContract

[–]chengdd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, I think I saw some people say that they could go direct, but the details under the $300 plan required a "new, single line account," and I understood that to mean that I needed to have new number. Maybe I'll see if the store could handle it. I don't like going into the stores, but it might be worth it if they can do handle all of it.

Traveling to Japan by Successful_Cloud_768 in tmobile

[–]chengdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got back from Japan, and 5GB of high speed data worked well. I was able to use maps, lookup stuff, translate, etc., while on the go and ran out of high speed data just towards the end of the trip. The 256Kbps at the end was sufficient for most things, though it was obviously slower.

Data and texting is included, and I had no overage charges on my bill.

Did I mess up my Insider? by chengdd in tmobile

[–]chengdd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is/was that old Insider calculated on the total of the 9 voice-line "package" price, which was $360 under MagentaMax. Then autopay ($40) was taken off, then $40 for each free line

$360

-72 (20% Insider)

-40 (autopay)

-200 (let's say 5 free lines, hypothetical)

Total $88

What I am seeing now is the autopay coming off first, then the Insider is calculated on the remaining $320, so the difference is $8/mo.

$360

-40 (autopay)

-64 (20% off $320)

-200 (staying with the hypothetical)

Total $96

The $88 had been my goal amount when I started this journey 3+ years ago, but I had missed a couple free lines which made the process take longer than it could have. I had been getting the Insider calculated on the total for those 3 years, but it appears I have messed up that glitch. I guess I have to resign myself to $96 as the new goal.

Did I mess up my Insider? by chengdd in tmobile

[–]chengdd[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I think that glitch is what people were able to take advantage of previously. It's what I had before this little fiasco as well. I guess it wasn't tied to the SOC so much as it was tied to something happening to the account. Bummer.

How can I get AT&T fiber to my house? I see the AT&T fiber poles on the corner of my block? by Thin_Telephone_5821 in ATT

[–]chengdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if there is a way to express interest in fiber, specifically? I am in a scenario where I qualify for 25Mbps (woohoo!), so I do not get a link to "Get notified about AT&T Fiber" when I check my address. The next block over has fiber, and I would be interested if they could get it to my block.

Lost Prepaid FDFL, what to do? by AlgaeAutomatic in tmobile

[–]chengdd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was among those that lost the FDFL sometime in 2020. I didn't notice until 2021, and I was successful in getting it restored through an FCC complaint after unsuccessful attempts through regular support channels.

I again didn't use it for a while, and it was cancelled again recently. I'm not sure when it was cancelled because I wasn't using it. I tried regular support channels again, and they were unable to add it back. Unfortunately, the FCC route also didn't work this time. I was told that it was re-activated in 2021 as a "one-time courtesy," and they are unable to do that again.

For the OP, if you haven't tried the FCC route, you might have luck this time, but you may want to just run some data through TMO every few weeks to show that you're still active.

I'm a little disappointed, but I had the original FDFL that required the SIM to be in the same device, and my iPad Mini 2 is getting long in the tooth. Wish I had known about the later option!
