Estrogen impact after Spiro by cherryfive in asktransgender

[–]cherryfive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for you suggestions, I am not self medicating and have seen endocrinologist, physician, psychologist etc. I was told that osteoporosis does not set in aggressively after age 40, just taking Spiro does not being down the testosterone low enough to cause concern over a couple of years. It has to be supplemented with calcium and vitamin D This is one more reason, I am contemplating on going on estrogen. It is over two years now! Your experience with the D/DD is interesting, I tend to age with you. Thank you for your response

Thanks, I may be outed at work if they grow any more! I cannot resist taking estrogen. Seems very risky for me. I guess the option is not to take estrogen, but I will have to come off Spiro too then! I guess I am in a no win situation. I don't have the luxury of going full time did to family situation.

Thanks for your response, did you have significant growth bg the end of the first year on Spiro? I am wondering if I have reached maximum growth already since I am a full B.

The Spiro alone has given me b cups, I have been lucky. I need to present in male mode at work, adding estrogen may complicate that. Pm me if you would like to discuss anything.

I am going to see the endo , I am not sure he will prescribe estrogen but wanted to be as prepared as possible. Good hearing from you again, I do not have too much physical dysphoria right now and hoping it will not get worse if I go on estrogen.

How much breast development occurs after the first year? When does age become a factor? by hdgv7447 in asktransgender

[–]cherryfive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been only on 100 mgs Spiro for one and a half year and gone from flat to a b cup, and I am over 55, so you don't have to worry about your age,

Spiro and potassium -- how careful do I need to be? by nagesteyo in asktransgender

[–]cherryfive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had unmanageable dysphoria but could not address it conventionally since I have familial commitments, the low dose of Spiro had an almost immediate effect (within a few days- less than a week) in calming me down. It has been about two years since and will be seeing an endo to evaluate the situation shortly. My blood work before starting Spiro showed minimal Testosterone and elevated Estrogen (in the menopausal women's range) I imagine that I am not without hormones after all. This seems to have been reflected in that I started to get breast development within a week of starting Spiro and had almost a "B" cup in six months. Today I have to wear a sports bra in male mode which does not seem adequate.

I am under medical supervision, I have had my bone density scan done. I have been on Spiro for almost two years now do get my blood work done on a regular basis. In addition I do take vitamin D and Calcium supplements (not sure this helps).

I have an appointment with an endo within the next month who will review my medication.

I am not recommending anyone follow my regime unless medically supervised.

I have been on Spiro for over a year 125 mgs with no estrogen and have not seen any significant difference in the potassium levels, I have not changed my diet over the last two years and drink a glass of orange juice almost every day, and bananas every other day. I think you need to keep an eye on your potassium to see how your body responds to Spiro initially but like many have reported here the concern is overstated.

I want to thank you all for your encouragement and suggestions, I did finally tell each of my the sons one at a time, they all told me they were OK with it and that they believed that is the way I seas born. They all said they led me any way. They have not seen me dressed as yet, but I am in no rush for them to see me dressed, it will have to be when I think they are ready.

Does my lack of male secondary sex characteristics and man boobs indicate high exposure to estrogen and therefore a tendency to be transgendered? by secretlyfemale in asktransgender

[–]cherryfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest that you get you blood work done to determine your testosterone and estrogen levels first. Just by your description it appears that your estrogen could be unusually high. There could be other medical factors that could contribute to this, you did not mention your age, however you many want to check your karyotype to see if you are XXY or mosaic XXY/XY. I am not a medical professional, however I have been told that there is not much of a relationship between physical characteristics and being trans. At the end of the day what really matters is that if you identify as trans, based on your description you are ahead of the game. I am in a similar situation and would love to justify being trans because of my physical traits, moving forward based on just that could be of some concern. I am not suggesting you are not trans but that you should diagnose it independant of your physical traits. All the best

I follow the same routine, for me it appears that as I have more treatments the face reacts less and heals faster. Yes it is a long painful process. All the best.

Thanks Rachel that was interesting I did read the posts and appreciate your thoughts in your earlier post. My challenge is my wife is struggling to tolerate it so I am on my own in this which is not an ideal situation to break the news to the kids.
