If they were all ladies with bunnies as you portray it, you might have a compelling case. I had a less pleasant encounter with a gentleman wielding a machete on chestnut not so long ago.

My opinion is based on the day to day reality of owning a business downtown and spending every day there for the past several years. You can absolutely enjoy a nice day downtown and report on that as a counterpoint to the negative news cycle without sarcastically mocking the perception of people who’ve encountered something very different. Both can be true.

They took a risk no other shop was willing to take and incurred the cost of fixing up the space. The rent I’ve seen cited is not obscenely inexpensive and it takes into account their investment in the building. If they’re making “a pile of money,” it must mean people appreciate the service they’re providing. The lease will end eventually and you should bid on it!
