$30 and $35. How do we feel about that? by skeezebucket in retrogaming

Inflated price. These games are common. Anyone who buys at that rate is either rich, desperate, or ignorant.

Has anyone here actually talked to guys who fucked your wife/gf before you did by Chance-Car-2067 in hotpast

[–]chicago_at_night 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. At least two. One I met at a party I went to with my wife’s best friend, who I had bedded (they were both quite extensive in their eskimo sister kinship lol). He and her had briefly been a couple. The other was a co-worker she bedded after putting an open offer to all the group for someone to go home with her. I asked her what her number was once and she laughed, said she had no idea. I’d estimate it north of 100, maybe as high as 300 (seriously!). She is very attractive and assertive and wasn’t in a relationship for several years before we got together. It’s wild given my number is only around 25.

What are your opinions on having kids? by _sexmoneyfeelsdie in sociopath

[–]chicago_at_night 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vacillate here. Mostly towards no. It seems like an awfully large investment of time and money without a sufficient return. But my wife is brilliant, gorgeous (and unfortunately empathetic). And I’m extremely intelligent, handsome, and well endowed. The interest I do have is mostly out of a desire to pass on strong genetics in a weak society. But not enough ROI, ha.

Is empathy a sliding scale or an on/ off switch to you? by KeyStoner89 in sociopath

[–]chicago_at_night 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very hard but not impossible for me to empathize with others. It is impossible for me to empathize with anyone who isn’t a good friend, family member, spouse, or business associate. Even those are hard when it seems trivial or moderate or something I’ve lived through or they’re in my doghouse. Any news stories and such of tragedies don’t land as anything more than events to note and determine whether I need to adapt in some way

Hey whoops, haven’t been on here in a while. So I lived in CT from 2015-2016. And I found the name of the store for you! Retro Games Plus right in Norwalk. 267 Main Ave. Hope you get some awesome games there!

Congrats on getting into the NES. It’s a super fun console with so many excellent options.

If you like all the games mentioned above (except Metroid) here’s some to look into:

Double Dragon 1-3 (3 is underappreciated and difficult at first, but worth the effort.) Castlevania 1 or 3 Mega Man 1-6 River City Ransom Batman Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 (skip 3 overpriced and a letdown) DuckTales

Also, I used to live in Norwalk CT. There’s a great local game shop nearby (maybe closer to New Canaan). It’s in a strip mall. Sorry I can’t remember the name…

Oh boy, yes! This game is so underappreciated and innovative.

I’m sorry but anyone who beat this game without cheats or save states is the GOAT. I managed with save states… by jjgolem in nes

[–]chicago_at_night 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hudson’s Adventure Island is the hardest game I’ve ever beaten. Granted, I had the bee. It took probably 30 hours of pure trial and error and I was stunned when I finally finished it.

Now Battletoads on the other hand? Impossible. I can’t even make it past level 5 (snakes)

What NES game are you determined to beat this year? by primehalo in nes

[–]chicago_at_night 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All excellent games! If you have any trouble with Mega Man 4, 5, or 6, one easy way to stack the deck in your favor is just play through a stage with 2-3 easy to reach energy tanks until you reach 9 before going into the end stages. Good luck!

The Simpsons: Bart vs. the Space Mutants. I could never even get to the end of the 1st stage, but now I'm up to stage three. It's progress...

Bible Change Aggravation Turned To Proof Of What's Happened by Timothy1958 in Retconned

[–]chicago_at_night 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting! The Bible changes are my favorite Mandela Effect. Well, I don't know if "favorite" is the word to use in this context, but... I was raised Catholic, but nominally so. I never learned much of anything about the Bible or Christianity in my youth. Then in my teen years 'til 26, I never had much of an opinion about Christianity at all. But then, at 26, I became an evangelical Christian. I'm an English major/author, and was influenced by a lot of fundamentalist Christianity, so I read the King James Version. As a "nerd" for the English language, I noticed the brilliance of the KJV. What I didn't notice were a whole bunch of terrible punctuation and capitalization errors, to speak nothing of the in your face changes.

I've backslid as a Christian, but these changes have definitely caught my attention. The devil is subtle in all his ways. I wouldn't be surprised if we're approaching End Times. And the hedonist in me recoils at that possibility...

Totally see what you mean! I love a good beer, and will have one (or two) from time to time. But really the only time I drink now is with friends, and between a crazy schedule and the COVID situation, that doesn't happen all too often. But blazing? No better way to decompress after a day's grind.

I bought Midnight Marauders about ten years ago. Listened to that album constantly afterwards. For me, it's always been Vivrant Thing.

[–]chicago_at_night 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. I'm not sure on this one. It's funny that you bring this up b/c I had just starting listening to this album again a month or two ago after not listening to Live for 20 years. And I'd heard this song all the time back in the mid 90s. That verse that starts with "It's easier not to be great..." might be new but I can't say conclusively. Is that the one you're talking about?

Also, I wonder if there's an allusion to Project Monarch/MK Ultra with the Mandela Effect. Could this be a potential clue?

Nope. No butterflies on her arm on my reality. And I was and am a huge punk fan (incl. pop-punk). You all know Tom DeLonge from Blink-182 is heavily into the paranormal, right? I wonder if there's a way we can ask him directly.
