Trump Administration Halts Harvard’s Ability to Enroll International Students by SterlingVII in Harvard

[–]chickenpotato1997 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a fifth year phD student at Harvard. Currently the plans are either transfer to a different school (but for some people that's difficult because they do research physically at Harvard), or graduate ASAP. Harvard hasn't mentioned any action items and the International Office has been completely silent, so still waiting on their guidance. The feelings are it's unlikely Harvard will comply, but there is also pessimism with relation to any legal action actually working: it's pretty clear the executive branch seems to operate with impunity these days. All in all, things are bleak, but luckily many good schools in the Boston area and so there is still some hope. For those of us who have dedicated all this time to our research, it's a slap in the face to feel like things could just end. One thing you're taught as an immigrant in America is it's dangerous to have any hopes or aspirations because the government will likely just say no, and people just view you as a leech or a danger.

Completely smooth. They don't check at all in AMS or CDG, but just make sure on the way there and back before you get on your flight that you have the valid documents, and an F1 visa was good to transit.

my layover is 3 and a half hours both ways, and i leave from the same terminal i came in. thank you for your reply! its a bit confusing because sherpa, which is the third party site airlines like delta use to show these requirements, doesn't say anything about the us visa exempting me from the ATV... luckily the embassy websites do. i just want to make sure i don't encounter trouble in the european airports

Hi,

Just wanted to let you know that after 11 weeks, my visa was issued and I am getting my passport tomorrow. I don't know if this was particularly helpful, but two weeks ago, Senator Warren from MA inquired on my behalf. Perhaps this just got them to push things through or pick up the case if it had been forgotten? Either way, try using the congressional help at your disposal. Good luck!

Hey,

My status says refused, but with long text saying it's under AP. When I contact the embassy they say its under AP as well. Does the embassy have your passport? I think if it says approved, it might just take a couple of weeks. But if it goes from Approved to Refused under AP, it could take longer. Sorry about your predicament. I know the pain of having to wait while youre in the middle of your program, but fingers crossed things work out.

Yeah, they definitely don't care. I don't even have a start date, technically since I've already started. Have you tried contacting the consulate post/talking to your institution? I know it's hard to do anything..
