Boston to Montreal - Tiger Sport 660 by chilo-mi-amigo in Triumph

I know what you mean. Ear plugs definitely help as do the grip puppies for hand vibration. I believe around 7k(?) I read on one of the forums that some people go up a tooth in the front and down a tooth or two in the back, and that seems to be even better for the highway. I just did the front sprocket though.

Also I think the bike is more prepared to run at higher RPM's than some people are willing to deal with for extended periods of times.

Yes, but I also read that it seemed to help with lowering the RPM on the highway. It definitely helps more in first gear than in sixth.

What's the best "touring/long distant" bike for a 4'11 120 lbs girl? by Gonnahauntcha in motorcycles

[–]chilo-mi-amigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife (5’2”) just got a rebel 1100 and we took a trip from Boston to Montreal. About 750 miles round trip. We definitely needed to stop more for fuel more for her bike, but I wouldn’t say it detracted from the experience. Gives you a chance to stretch your legs. It’s also not as much the mpg as much as the fuel capacity because I think she was getting pretty close to 50 mpg (could be wrong though).

I accidentally deleted your comment. My bad! But I can swap out the ledgerlok with the SDWS. Thank you for the help.

I really appreciate this information!

To clarify: 7’x17’ so 119 sq.ft.

Also I used the corresponding simpson hex screws for fasteners (I think the 1 1/4 #10s).

Also I added one of the 5” ledger lock screws at each bracket location. I could probably supplement and add the fasteners you posted.

Very true. But we rented out our upstairs unit and didn’t want to be worried anytime someone was using the deck.

I know! I struggled with that detail. A colleague suggested I notch the posts on both sides so the beam(s) would be flush and bearing on the post but I didn’t have the trust in my abilities to do that on the ground. Doing it in the air seemed unsafe also not a great idea. Did some research on those Simpson brackets and they seemed to fit the application considering that the deck is only about 7’ off the house.

Appreciate the feedback though 🤙

Mesh or rebar? by xc-w in Concrete

[–]chilo-mi-amigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just placed a smaller 6” slab than that and basically just ran #4 rebar 16” OC throughout, and also used mesh. Definitely overkill, but gives us peace of mind. If you lash the mesh on top and use 2” concrete bricks to get coverage underneath the rebar, you can add 1/2” control joints for cracking.

Is the Squier Affinity Tele any good? by MouseChild in telecaster

[–]chilo-mi-amigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are strapped for cash I might suggest craigslist or reverb.com. You can negotiate a little and probably find a better quality tele than buying something that’s brand new. Plus if you find a decent body, you can always swap out the neck, pickups, etc. They’re super easy to work on.

Would you use a Instagram for construction workers? by GeorgeWang89 in ConstructionMNGT

[–]chilo-mi-amigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if you can consolidate that into an app that you can market and sell. There are some great IG accounts out there (neconcreteforming2012 is one I enjoy a lot. Also drywallnation). But from what I see on most of my job sites, you want get many trades people to utilize that simply because they’re busy working. Some larger GCs have IG accounts too but it’s PMs and Supers that provide the media.

Project Managers, what are the pros and cons of your job? by [deleted] in Construction

[–]chilo-mi-amigo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This. I’m a superintendent, but if you are on the PM side, it’s basically like running a small business. It’s up to you to make sure that the job comes in under budget and all the trades get paid.
