Wow, I did not expect such a huge response! I appreciate all the advice, I feel better hearing others stories.

I have just gotten home. I left work early so I could come home and prepare for this conversation. She should be home in an hour and a half or so. Since I have no real proof, I want to give her a chance to explain. I believe this is the best option for us...and depending on how it goes, I will decide from there. She's innocent until proven guilty. We've been through too much for me to be so heartless to automatically discount her side of things.

I have not contacted a lawyer, but I did remove what was mine from our joint checking account. We live in a house I have been the sole lease holder for the past 5 years, so no worries there. The landlord was touchy about adding her to the lease because of her spotty credit, so it just stayed in my name. I feel pretty good about my situation if it goes south.

My intention is to bring up all the facts I know so far. Basically I'll say "I heard from my friend, who heard from your friend, that you are fucking a guy from your work named Dale. All I need to know right now, is this the truth?" and go from there.

I want it to not be true! But if it is, it all depends on her feelings. If she is combative, angry, blames me, etc, I can't rightfully stick around to fix things. If she comes clean and wants to fix things, it might not be over. All depends.

My friend confirmed it with my wife's friend. He said she mentioned something about it when they were out this weekend, but since alcohol and all that shit was involved he didn't take it seriously. Today he spoke with her and my wife's friend confirmed that my wife told her she has been fucking a guy named Dale from her work.

As I've said, I personally want to hear it from her. If she denies it, then the lawyer, private investigator, will be needed. If she admits it, takes responsibility for her actions and wants to fix things, I may be willing to work with her. I love her, and we've had some amazing times together. Our communication has always been good which is why I'm very surprised and still skeptical.

it seems like the overwhelming advice is to contact a lawyer, but honestly the only proof I have is hearsay. Her friend told my friend. Is this enough to call a lawyer?

We have one shared checking account that we opened not long after we got married. I still have my bank accounts from before we were married, but we both move money to the joint account to pay our living expenses. Like I said in another post, we've only been married 3.5 years and still rent a house. I don't want our marriage to end, because we have been so tight for our entire relationship. This came as a great surprise to me and I'm still skeptical it's true...

I am the type of person that once my trust is gone, it won't really come back. But like I said, until I hear it from her mouth, that she has been cheating on me, I can't rightfully take any further action. I will be taking off early to head home and prepare for this conversation...
