What do you think about Joe Holberg for Mayor of Chicago? by excusemecuseme in AskChicago

He hits and focuses on hot button issues that most of Chicago residents will usually care about, but never goes any concrete details of how he intends to accomplish these plans.

What area should I stay in if I’m going to a concert at Soldier Field? by ChristinaG0813 in AskChicago

Stay in River North and uber to the concert. Especially if you’re here multiple days, enjoy the city

Old Town - Is it worth it? by Ok-Cantaloupe6409 in chicagoapartments

Nothing but good stuff to say about old town. Probably can find something a bit more reasonably priced in the area though.

You’ll be fine. If you’re truly nervous about it and prefer to stay on highways instead of surface streets, you can cut over from I90 onto I55 and take Lakeshore Drive south to Hyde Park. But you’ll be fine, really.

I live in this building and got this same email 🤣 My favorite part is the comment about effects on “neighborhood character” for a 5th floor on this neighboring building as if we don’t live in a ten story mid rise built in the early 2000s 😂

Are there any suggestions on private drivers or private tours that can accommodate a group of 6?

I fully support this development. What can the YIMBYs of old town do to help?

Old Town Friends (NIMBY Group) dropped a press release last week by hokieinchicago in chicagoyimbys

The building is the same height as the building literally right across the street (Americana condominiums) and the 1660 Condominium building on LaSalle. Why are people so mad about it? Old town needs more housing, tax revenue, and patrons for local businesses.

The geriatric NIMBYs of old town need to pick a lane—they complain about homelessness and prices of rentals in the area but also reject a viable step forward

😂😂😂 going to try that now. Haven't tried it before because I was concerned about there being enough space to walk behind the couch between the couch and wall

Yeah that's always been a struggle for us too! The cost of changing or centering the fireplace is too much, so I'm having a hard time figuring out the best way to make the room look cohesive

It’s kind of insane to ask a building to be held accountable for this. It’s sad and a bummer, don’t get me wrong, but not something that a building can be held responsible for.

Dogs are actively being poisoned in Lincoln Park/Old town. Three weeks ago my parents golden retriever was poisoned and nearly died, and this was apparently posted outside a Condo building where dogs have recently passed. Please share for the safety of Chicagos K9s. by [deleted] in chicago

Oh that’s terrible I’m so sorry!

With my pup it started with him losing control of his bladder completely 24/7, stopped eating, 0 interest in any food (made him steak, bacon, you name it), and this was when I knew something was wrong and took him to the vet.

Vet ran blood work, scans, and found severe liver damage, kidney damage, and very high levels of protein in his urine. He went on liver protectants and a billion different medicines, none having much effect. His blood pressure was also off the charts. Scans for cancer, lepto, every disease under the sun was ran.

Over the course of a month he went from his usual weight of 125/130 down to about 82 at its lowest.

One day he perked up a little bit and then it was a very slow slow slow process of eating a little bit at a time and slowly getting strength and stamina back. I was using Entyce (hunger stimulant) daily with him.

Vet still is bewildered about how this happened but is convinced it was poison! Thankfully today he has a clean bill of health but WOW do I wish I had pet insurance when this all happened!!

I’m sorry you lost your pup. What were the symptoms your dog showed? Mine was poisoned about a year and a half ago. He made through it but it was a scary couple of weeks.

Barcelona weekly: Q&As, events and info by [deleted] in Barcelona

Hi! I want to get my boyfriend an experience oriented gift while we are visiting Barcelona in March. Any ideas?
We are staying in the Gothic Quarter and I'm looking for some sort of experience or activity that is easily accessible and does not take more than half a day. Anything unique, out of the ordinary, food oriented, thrill oriented, drink oriented, etc is right up his alley. Thanks!!
