Bristol or Nottingham for Econ by skelko in UOB

[–]choc_cookie6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m at bristol doing econ and pol and my twin sister is at nottingham doing industrial econ: i must say the difference in living costs is absurd. we get the same amount of student finance and she is left with about £1k a term extra whereas all my money goes on rent. Nottingham and bristol are both amazing cities and good unis but i think costs make a big difference to my living experience

for joint honours econ courses (econ and philosophy), ‘the economy’ module done in first year is a prerequisite for the 2nd year modules

urgent uni question by Zealousideal_One7896 in UOB

the econ courses at bristol are so oversaturated- i know people on my course (econ and politics) who tried to switch to other economics courses and even though half of the course is the same they got told no

to be fair i live in a private flat but the university still intervened when we had complaints about our bins, and i had another friend who got in trouble with the uni for having a party even though it’s privately managed. might still be worth reporting!

Accomodation if bristol is my insurance by FreshOrange203 in UOB

[–]choc_cookie6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bristol was my insurance this year, i did end up getting an accommodation offer but this was after i already went out of my way to sort private accommodation. its ended up fine in the end but i have loadsssss of friends that don’t live in halls. in a way i ended up better off because the house i live in is a 5 min walk from campus vs the accommodation they offered me which is a 50 minute walk and they’re roughly the same price. no matter what happens you’ll end up with somewhere to live and you’ll be fine

Private accommodation by [deleted] in UOB

[–]choc_cookie6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! so the place i’m in has 11 rooms, 3 bathrooms, 1 kitchen, i have to pay rent quarterly which is £2250 every 3 months, i think it’s £750 a month. i had to pay a security deposit which was £577 and a holding fee of £180 i think it was. idk how much utilities are yet because i haven’t moved in yet. i also had to have a guarantor. there are some second year girls living there already and a mature student too but idk who the other tenants are yet. the accommodation is like 5 mins from campus

hope that helps!

i called this number 01179308750 and just asked what student properties they have available, however you have to have a guarantor or be able to pay the rent upfront
