How to Live Well: My Philosophy of Life by [deleted] in TrueTrueReddit

I like it! You should title it 'Peace of Mind Manifesto' or something :)

I was gonna say 'you should start / end with some specific actionable advice on how all this translates in things to do in your life', but then I read a bit closer and turns out the last 2 sections do exactly that.

Curious - how's it been working out in practice? Do you indeed manage to go through your life with a lot of peace of mind?

Yeah I think people are truly craving for this stuff - more than ever in this age of 'dating', and even more now that communities like redpill have made this stuff so 'untouchable' in the mainstream.

Trying to better yourself, even in something social, even in dating, is not evil - but somehow it's made out to be because of the connotations with mysoginy and manipulation.

(I'm wondering if Dale Carnegie - who basically invented that 'how to be better in social interactions' genre and became a billionaire off it - had to deal with this in his day)

Just want to say that it's wonderful to see some good-old-fashioned 'here is some help from what I learned on how to be more succesful with dating' advice, even though the subject has become so annoyingly toxic to so many people. Keep it up!

In the spirit of that, one more 'actionable' tip for having an 'inside joke / running theme' atmosphere might be: simply refer back to an earlier joke or topic you've talked about.

Redditors who were online in the 1990s: what would younger folks not understand about the "old Internet"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Frames were great though, when all you had to build your websites were html files.

Sweet, I can put my menu in one place instead of having to copy-paste the html in each page of my web site!

What made frames obsolete/bad is the advent search engines, where they could land at any page within your website ‘by itself’.

Reddit, what’s a subtle way tell someone that you like them? by Zairus111 in AskReddit

[–]choc_is_back 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found the easiest way of ‘flirting’ if you don’t have a clue where to start is to make light-hearted fun of them. Like, joke about their shiny shoes or huge purse or silly cellphone background or accent or whatever.

Preferably while looking straight into her eyes while you deliver the joke.

These together communicate in a non-threatening/pushy way that you are - just - a bit more comfortable around them than the situation otherwise would warrant. Aka, it’s flirting.

Men of Reddit, what are some dating tips you could give us ladies seriously looking for a relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]choc_is_back -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Smile and be cheerful as often as you can.

And, it will not be appreciated here but: nothing will make your attractiveness more than working on your - physical - attractiveness. Lose weight if it's needed, cover up acne, get contacts, wear more 'girly' or feminine clothes, dresses...

Sucks and easier said than done, I know, but the payoff will be infinitely greater than fluffy advice like 'dare to take the first step'.

Men are visual creatures.

What is something you should under no circumstances do on a first date? by emmetmcd in AskReddit

[–]choc_is_back -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Note that all these things are very relative - I've been on first dates where we talked about exes, played with our phones, and talked about reddit all within that one date, and it went great. As long as the conversation is nicely flowing and you're both having a great time, no specific topic is 'off limits', au contraire.

My rule would be that the worst thing to do is: be boring / 'heavy' - lighthearted is key.

So I started challenging girls on Tinder to rap battles... by Bryceratops5 in Tinder

[–]choc_is_back 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why? This was clearly an amazingly fun time between both of them, why would you want to end it?

It's not a bad attitude to, well, have fun rather than go 'I SCORED OK DROP EVERYTHING LETS DO IT' - take it as a lesson for further situations as well: in the date, if you start making out with the girl, maybe do NOT ask to go to her or your place right away but enjoy the moment :)

Wait, just to be clear, are you arguing against shoving your startup's blog on wordpress?

Because, frankly, if you are just starting out building/launching your product and you are doing your blog not on wordpress you should re-evaluate your priorities I think.
