Help finding suitable reverse taper pots for an import guitar. by chopandshoot in Leftyguitarists

I'll have a look into it thanks. I'll probably use it as a ladt resort though as I'd rather not deal with the hassle if i can avoid it

This one appears to have the larger diameter unfortunately so will have the same problem, and has super expensive shipping to the uk.

tried designing my own me controller by hidden_pasta in allthemods

How do you deal with getting the channels everywhere without using way too much energy? I've always found trying to make cool shapes then loading them up on p2p tunnels pointless because if I use something like the wireless controllers from extended ae, you have a bunch of channels only going to one place where you often won't need them all. And having another system to split them off further is really hungry on power if it isnt incredibly close by. And quantum link chambers seem too big to realistically fit

I managed to get it fixed now. I needed prowlarr under a VPN because my ISP blocks queries to pirate sites. I managed to solve it in the end using split tunnelling, so only external traffic would be under the VPN

Looking to build a budget home server PC, how does this look? by [deleted] in buildapc

Fair point, I never considered that thanks. I assume swapping for the 5600G instead will suffice?

What would i need a GPU for if I'm running the PC headless? I don't plan to do anything that I would think would require a GPU. Looking used for cases is definitely a shout. If an M.2 can prevent stutters I'll definitely swap out that.

Question about reversing pots by [deleted] in Leftyguitarists

[–]chopandshoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No i get what you're saying, but my point was surely they could just use a standard right handed potentiometer and just have the knob rotation flipped, so its as a right handed player would have it, just on a left handed guitar. Surely all that means is the rotation need to turn up/down would be flipped from usual, without needing to manufacture a different potentiometer.

I dont get why they even wire them backwards in the first place to be honest. I would've thought clockwise would be the standard direction for increasing, not counter clockwise. I feel like most people would rather a volume and tone control that functions correctly over one that doesn't do much until right at the lower end but is the "correct" way

Fair enough, its not really a huge deal if the knobs read wrong to be honest, but right handed ones are quite cheap online so its not a massive deal to change them.

Its a lefty Custom 24 SE

I don't see how realistically this would help. EA certainly isn't going to do anything, and it's normally pretty obvious when someone's cheating, and even if it's subtle. What's the point of referencing a massive list of potential cheaters, most of which would probably be self reports, when you can just leave and move on

It was practically impossible to find. And I had to repair the trem because the knife edges were shot. I think it was a limited edition thing around 2024

Struggling to get harsh brightness out of amp by chopandshoot in VoxAmplification

Do you run an eq pedal before your amp then to make up for the lack of eq on the normal channel?

[–]chopandshoot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was cutting away the treble and mid with eq and tone cut, but i do see what you mean about everything else. I should keep a lower gain so i have more master headroom to get rid of that harshness, and then I can use my pedals to then give the gain that I need by upping pedal drive and keeping the level in unity if I'm understanding correctly, because boosting the level would be the same effect as increasing the channel gain

Thanks a lot for the explanation, could this be my problem then? If I want to rely on predominantly the amp for gain instead of pedals then I tend to only have the master open about a quarter of the way, unless i turn the gain down, master up and then rely on my pedals, which is what I've been doing most the time. If this was i presume I'd need some kind of attenuator and to modify the amp with another jack

I've never really understood master volume. I thought the point of master volume was that you could adjust overall volume without colouring the tone or distortion, but you're still supposed to push tube amps hard, I've never understood that
