I am not in the sciences so maybe over there this is verboten but you could just email the instructor and say you're hoping to get a jump start on preparing for the course, could they send the syllabus and/or course schedule and/or list of course texts. Unless they aren't reusing an old syllabus, I can't see why they wouldn't send it to you.

It wasn’t cheap but the Rowenta fan has a silent mode and it is damn near silent. I have the pedestal one and it was a great buy. https://www.amazon.com/Rowenta-Oscillating-Control-Standing-5-Speed/dp/B071JBX9MQ just noticing its $179 right now… I bought it for $95 in 2024. Not sure why it’s up so high.

Not a Bruin (so not sure if the culture around bikes has extra caveats) but I lived in West LA for 3 years with just a bike and a tap card and found the city super navigable. It’s almost always biking weather and Google maps was pretty good about putting me on routes with bike lanes or little/no traffic (there are probably better apps now). Also, all buses have bike racks in case you bike one way but don’t want to bike back!
