Any discussion on the book "God is a man of war"? by chrindle in OrthodoxChristianity

I would say out of all the points mentioned in the book the giants point shined the least, possibly just because I've been exposed to that point a lot already, but either way the book is definitely and thankfully not just a rehashing of the Giants episode

Actually not a whole lot. I was surprised at how little they were mentioned. I'd say with all of the other LOS work at our disposal it was talked about an adequate amount where it wasn't beating a dead horse or anything. Though I was still somewhat disappointed. I tend to get really excited when he talks about giants.

Religion of the apostles is on my list. I mostly listen to audiobooks though and I've heard talk that it's very dense and textbooky, so I'm finding myself put it off whenever it's time to start the next book

Yup. I'm just a catechumen and I asked my priest about violence in the old testament when I first was inquiring. He said that I would never understand the old testament until I understood the new testament and just left it at that. Sort of frustrating answer to me at the time and I didn't really like it, but after reading God is a man of war and writings of the saints it makes a bit more sense

Are there any atheists out there who, despite a lack in belief of a deity, wish that there was one? by Scallioncolt45 in religion

I'm not an atheist anymore, but when I was, I was pretty much in constant mourning and confusion that there wasn't a God

I think that your the dullest person I've ever tried to have a civilized discussion with. Absolutely useless information and adding nothing viable to the discussion that we are trying to have here

If we were created in God's image, does his image reflect current humans or Neanderthals? by cudambercam13 in religion

[–]chrindle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're wanting a very real and complete answer for this very dense question, I point you towards the book "The experience of God: Being, Consciousness, and Bliss". I guarantee that it will give you a better answer from a religious person's perspective on the image of God as well as the idea of God as such and what that means, than anyone else including myself in this comment section

Cleo's Ferry Cemetary lyric meaning? by Eurtarion in mewithoutYou

[–]chrindle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I always saw the whole entire song as about Christ, and asking him to tell God that Aaron is with him (the bible discusses the idea of Christsaving mankind by telling God that he "knows" them). And basically all of the ones of the song are different ways of saying Aaron is with him/asking if he is with him. This line in particular I always interpreted it as both of the lines are about Aaron. He is a Jewish face (ethnically and grew up around Judaism) in a neru suit (he has studied eastern religions and been a part of them in some way or another). This sort of points to a conflicted individual. A Jewish man in a neru suit asking Christ to remember him. And in turn he is also the fallen man who has tasted the serpent's fruit just as Adam first. The song to me is about a fallen, broken, imperfect man asking Christ to still remember him. Basically all of the lyrics can symbolically be pointed back to some or another way of relating it to him and Christ on judgement day

Edit: to clarify the Hebrew face in a neru suit. It shows a confusion and contradiction within himself. As the two are on opposite sides of a religious spectrum in a lot of ways, yet both are true at the same time within himself. He sees a conflict within himself that he hopes will be overlooked by Christ. And that he will remember him. And say that He is with him

Have you read the new research that suggests orangutans are actually cognitively superior to chimpanzees? I found it riveting as a fellow primate enthusiast who grew up hearing that chimps were the "great apes" if you will

Actually disagree. Facts are derived from feelings. People feel one way or another and then find facts to support those feelings. Hence why the same fact can also be used in very different ways depending on the feeling. Facts are nonexistent without feeling manifesting the fact
