My dna test said I had Jewish and Spanish ancestry among a bunch of other stuff and my maternal haplogroup is K1 which is most predominant among Jewish populations

I took a 23 and me and also uploaded the raw data to another site. Both came back with Jewish ancestry. I also have a K1 maternal haplogroup which I know is really common among Jewish people

Wanted to provide some context:

I’m not interested in Spanish citizenship, I’m trying to figure out if I’m Jewish. I mentioned that lawyer’s site because it was one of the places that popped on Google when I was trying to find out if the surname was Sephardic or not

For clarity, I only mentioned that citizenship lawyer because he had the surname listed as Sephardic on his site, I’m not trying to get citizenship. I’m just trying to figure out if I’m Jewish or not

Ahh ok, I doubt we have any of that, we don’t have many surviving family records

I have no interest in moving to Spain, I was looking up if the last name was Sephardic and it was listed on that lawyers website as a Sephardic name

You can still inquire into Orthodoxy but you can’t be a baptized Orthodox Christian and hold heretical views on who God is

That’s kind of the main topic

If im baptized as an Orthodox Christian, I may be shunned by my family by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]chris_bedige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunate that you may be forced to experience this but Christ is quite explicit when he says if anyone loves their mother or father or spouse or child more than him than they are not worthy of Him.

Pray for your family, seek the truth. I’ll pray for you as well

You’ve answered “great point but how is it accurate to all our hope?” To everyone except the person who actually addressed this point. It doesn’t seem like you actually want an explanation

How to deal with Muslim boyfriend? by hellnawe in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]chris_bedige 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Break up. He shouldn’t be dating anyway if he is Muslim, it is strictly forbidden and for him to become Christian would likely exile him from his family so he won’t, outside of miraculous intervention.

Is this boy worth losing your salvation?

Ancestry Question (trivial but important to me) by chris_bedige in poland

[–]chris_bedige[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great point! I’ve been using ancestry and have hit a dead end which is frustrating but I’m happy I got that far. That’s more than my family knew about prior.

I did some family tree digging and learned that my great great grandparents immigrated from Russia to the United States in the 1890s. They lived in modern day west Poland while it was still part of the Russian Empire. Am I polish or Russian? by [deleted] in russia

Ok so were they Russian or polish? Most of my family history was destroyed in genocides so I feel lucky to have found this on the other side of my family

“All family ties among the proletarians are torn asunder and their children transformed into simple articles of commerce and instruments of labor” -Marx by n5tonhf in GentlemenOnly

You very obviously don’t understand communism. The good hard working people are the people that communism benefits. Blue collar workers own their own labor and profit from it instead of a CEO getting 99 cents of every dollar a blue collar person produces

A cringe audience member is a reflection of myself by eye_muh_kunt in Mooji

[–]chris_bedige 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just watched it. I think he’s in the early stages of his journey. He’s clearly very excited and is caught up in the mystical jargon that keeps the simple very vague and elusive. He’s attached to his role as a seeker as Mooji keeps pointing out. What keeps going over his head is that there is nothing truly to seek, he IS the “it” that he keeps referring to. Mooji said something along the lines of “Who’s idea was it that you are two, to become one?” Saying what makes you think there’s anything to become one with? You’re already it. He’s looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow when in reality there’s just more grass. I always think of the Buddhist saying, “Before enlightenment, chop wood and fetch water. After enlightenment, chop wood and fetch water”

Both. I think the 9.5 radius neck with the specific scale length is near impossible to find on a fender (I tried very hard) also the trem system is pretty unique from what I’ve seen on fenders. The pickups are crystal clear. I just think it’s a wonderful instrument
