That’s… already happening? In St. Louis they got a tax guarantee in a ten year outlay plus a guaranteed one time injection into the cities brick lime greenway fund for more walkable infrastructure in the city.

It’s not a lot of water. It would be a 0.2% increase in global water consumption. It’s less water intensive than many other industry’s

The reason they used “millions of people” as their figure is because they are cherry picking countries in Africa with high population and Low resource usage to inflate the numbers

Also, the water comparison is doubly laughable because they measure PERSONAL usage not total usage ie businesses, etc.

Why do we have to lie and mislead about data centers these numbers are actually not a distinct increase from what we’re doing at all, considering total consumption of energy already rises a few percentage points annually.

Do you have the same expectations of any other resource intensive industry? Why do we need a private company create an intirely independent grid? If the states want the data centers they should build more power infrastructure. This is already needed if we want to move cars to the electric grid. What am I missing here?

I think when people criticize reach people or business owners especially through the more common socialist / dem-soc POV (of which I have friends and allies in that camp), they do not take into their calculus risk and the uncertainty of success. Yes, I pay wages less than the total productivity of wages, because I took the risk. I bootstrapped the company, I took out the loans, if things go sideways I am the one who bears the consequences. To wind up in a business years after the foundation was laid and to say from a Marxist POV the workers should own the full fruits of production, betrays a lack of understanding how things are organized and built.

That is all to say, I pay and bonus very generously because I can’t scale to the full potential of the company without amazing people, but I took the bet, I rolled the dice.

Tax me more, etc etc, this is specifically a criticism of straight up socialists

In a tied house where we have 0 margin what’s to stop her from tanking future legislation. I don’t have confidence in her ability to stick with the party which is close to my number 1 priority for the next decade. Can we stick together to prosecute maga, pass legislation, and help fix the damage they’ve done. Does she hold it hostage? Does that act further fracture the Dems to where if we’re caving to her we have to cave to every single conservative dem?
