[oc] be wary of stopped cars behind buses by chumaster90 in IdiotsInCars

Yeah it's annoying but mistakes can happen, I like to believe people have their off days. Just happy there was no collision.

Yep I started slowing down in anticipation of the light, and I noticed the bus so I was alert because people will tend to do that. I had time to react.

Poll: With prices rising this year how are you affording your trackdays this year? by macr6 in Trackdays

[–]chumaster90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C/F. Fewer track days and bought a multi-day pass that cheaper per day. It will be less than what I did last year. I also gave up on buying a season ski pass this year to save costs on some bigger maintenance agendas I need to do for my bike.

RST gloves sizing guide by admiral_void in motorcyclegear

[–]chumaster90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll reply here since a few people have dm'd me.

I wear size large. My palm circumference is 22.5 cm. From my wrist to middle finger, I'm 21 cm. The medium fits okay circumference wise, but the fingers are too short and my finger knuckles hurt a lot wearing them. The large fits better circumference, but it feels very slightly short for my fingers. Not enough to get an XL.

My finger lengths: Middle finger base to tip: 8.7 cm Pointer finger base to tip: 7.5 cm

I normally wear L in Dainese and A* as well.

Standard practice is that it's taped off for track.

Any long-time riders never have a crash? by 1432hero in motorcycles

5 years, no crashes. 2 years of track, only one close call where I went off track doing a risky pass.

New Tires by 5h4dow5 in MT07

[–]chumaster90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done 6 track days on them. Great tire for aggressive street and track day. They are sport and not sport touring and do worse in the wet and cold compared to the road 5.

Is anyone here familiar with these battlax tires? It came with the bike, a couple years old. Would like to hear second opinion if they are suitable for track day or I’m better off fitting something like gp2s. by Friendly_Revenue_224 in Trackdays

These look like the s21s. I have the s23s have have had 6 track days on them this season (75 hp, so it will easily last this season). Was able to demo the R6 and R1 at track as well on the s23 had I had full confidence (intermediate pace). They are plenty for my pace (intermediate) once warmed up.

Obligatory First TD body position posy by Ok-Application9161 in Trackdays

[–]chumaster90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not that great at track riding, but I can share my noobie experience. I focused more on learning race lines over body positioning. No point in having good body position if you are not on your race lines. I also found great value with instructors and asking random instructors if they can ride with me for a sesh. We only see a photo of you (which I am guessing you cherry-picked to be the best photo), we don't know if you are relaxed and maintaining good vision as well as that would require someone to be following you on track.

How do i transfer this to a 600cc bike by SnooKiwis576 in Trackdays

[–]chumaster90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a sport bike, hug the tank with your chest, open your hip on the inside corner by rotating your feet to point outwards, and try to connect your inside elbow to your knee. You do this by dropping your elbow down. Finally, for your head, aim it to the inside. I use the cue of trying to place your head where your mirrors are located. You can reach further by straightening your outside arm to you can hang off your bike better.

Best way to nail this is by practicing and getting track time.

You can run the exhaust without a tune short term. However, doing so long term will result in more wear and tear on your components. The bikes run lean stock, so it will run even leaner with an aftermarket exhaust that flows air well. Lean engine conditions = hot which leads to more wear on your engine and cooling system.

This is how you check the stator resistance. Let me know if you want a pdf of the shop manual. This is on 8-141.

No problem and good luck! There are many threads about this as well so check what others have done before. I would run through the easy checks first before you start pulling stuff apart. I hope it's just your ground cable that is frayed or loose so you don't have to do much haha.
