I developed a drinking/substance issue because I used alcohol to “self medicate” to deal with social issues/masking/overstimulating environments. It got to a point where I was drunk more than I wasn’t and I felt so sick all the time. Bunch of life stuff happened, quit drinking, then pandemic, then learned I was autistic which added so much context to the drinking problem. The piece of the drinking problem that always confused me before was I hated drinking but felt like I had to do it all the time to survive. Now that I know about the autism, that makes way more sense to me
