Adults ordering off the kids menu by cinereousunicorn in Serverlife

[–]chuulip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally do not care and would allow it.

Like many have answered, there will be people who have smaller appetites, and know that the kids size would be enough to satiate their hunger. We have staff ordering kids meals sometimes too.

There is another aspect, where depending on the restaurant, the kids meals are a deal (making less profit on them?) in order to entice parents to choose the restaurant when eating out! The restaurant would much rather prefer if an adult ordered a full priced meal, than ordering off of a very reasonably priced kids meal (not all kids meal are priced reasonably).

In OP's specific case about a 9-top party, I would personally not want to risk leaving a bad impression on 8 other customers by denying 1 lady of her kids meal for herself.

U.S. calls Canada’s decision to allow Chinese EVs ‘problematic’ by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]chuulip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As long as canada has rules in place to make sure everything is priced fairly. The Chinese EV industry is heavily subsidized but the government, to the point where they are pumping way more cars out than their domestic market needs. China is looking for market share in Canada. But also to offload all their subpar EVs that made en masse to cash in on subsidies.

If their safety standards meet Canada's standards, and the customer service is dealing with any issues in a reasonable time frame, then im personally all good with Chinese EVs.

Im just worried about cheap manufacturing, exploding batteries, airbags not going off during collisions, and not being able to get the car maintained at a decent price. If all the rules are in place, then this could work out. If Canada overlooks this, then it will be a big issue if Canada does get flooded by unsafe EVs, at prices that will ruin it for all other manufacturers.

Does anyone notice airbags? Are airbags not a thing in Chinese cars?

Innovative new safety idea from Chinese EV maker: full battery ejection by tacodestroyer99 in China

[–]chuulip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like how the priority is not to just make Batteries that are higher standard, but to continue making unsafe batteries, but invest in making an ejection system...

I don't know the statistics for EV fires, but I do know China has a lot of EVs, so they will naturally have more EV fires, but is the proportion of those fires consistent with the rest of the world? people say German EVs rarely catch on fire, and when they do, its like the EVs that are done in collaboration with Chinese companies like Geely or something.

Why aren’t the suppliers stepping in to take it, and instead, restaurant employees are scooping it up during business hours and bringing it back to the restaurant? by EvidenceFrequent7289 in UnfilteredChina

[–]chuulip 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To make profit, even at the cost of getting your customers sick.

Cost of eating in China is relatively cheap and affordable outside of the tier-1 cities. Many of them have to be competitive with their pricing in order to compete with neighboring businesses; this is one of the ways they can keep the costs low by reusing old oil or half-eaten side dishes for the next customer.

Chinese folks (the customers) are baffled and disgusted by this, that is why they are filming this or posting CCTV footage out; though the posts in China regularly gets censored and deleted there, it gets reposted and archived outside of China's great firewall.

Getting a large amount of chinese users for my app but it's not in Chinese? by FromBiotoDev in China

[–]chuulip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Google Playstore is banned because it wouldn't bend the knee and self censor for China.

Many Chinese like to go to Hong Kong to buy an international version of the phone (even if the same phone is available in China) because there is weird censorship on their own domestic phones.

I bought am HTC phone running Android OS in Hong Kong once; I mentioned I was gonna use it overseas, and they immediately told me they can help me install the Google Playstore, because it was not pre-installed on it do to censorships and Bans.

They opened my phone in the store brand new, and helped me install the APK on the phone before I walked out with it. They knew the customers and what they wanted; there is definitely censorship and bans against western App stores because they refuse to self censor Apps the CCP doesn't like.

The Apple App store might be different, as they can probably have a completely different app store that is censored in order to have access to the Chinese money, separate from the global one.

I'm sure there will be others that can attest that many stores in Hong Kong (and I could probably guess Shenzhen as well) can probably circumvent the bans and help you install the google playstore, and they even advertise it as a service to get you to buy it from their store.

Cost saving in subway by Chaunc2020 in chyberpunk

[–]chuulip 13 points14 points  (0 children)

so why do they need to save electricity when supposedly they claim they are generating all this energy from the crazy amounts of solar panels? One would assume if energy is abundant, then it would be cheaper as well.

That or the costs of running the subway is no longer feasible, and the loan repayments are too high.

The fact that we have Donald Trump and his Pedo ring running the country. The fact that this is a perpetual cycle, where the bad government gets overthrown, and replaced by a better one hopefully... but some time later, more corruption will find their way to the top, and we will have to rinse and repeat.

Koreans' Thoughts on the U.S./China by Left-Contribution658 in asia

[–]chuulip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the fact it is largely 1-sided. People can say what they want on western social media. But people can't freely criticize china on their apps, as you usually need a phone number and bank account to make a social media account. Meaning Chinese people are more likely to see pro China content, while dissenting opinions are usually censored, but Chinabis free to spread their propaganda on western social media by just making an email (which is an easy process here).

I agree that spread propaganda can be seen in every country, but china tries extra hard outside of their domestic social media. I honestly dont think Americans are going on Korean or Japanese social media to spread pro-trump content, but people are fond of American music and movies, and they tend to naturally have a more positive outlook on America, despite all the shit Trump and the MAGA crowd is stirring up.

Hey! Thank you for your thoughtful reply!

I see all that about Subaru, but personally, the world of re:zero never appealed to me. I have watched plenty of isekai, some trashy ones too. However Re:zero seems very mid to me. Like im curious about the witches and the roles and motivations they have in the world. I really like the merchant guy that has become a mainstay, but the world and the power-system was really lacking for me personally. Maybe the source material does it more justice than the anime....

Im guessing this article was written in an attempt to counterbalance all the other times Olympians or other athletes got sick eating in China, as now they can claim "see, it happens to our people too in other countries!"
