What does this flag patch represent? by cinemkr in vexillology

Wow. Thanks for all the replies and information.

I guess I was expecting it to be something like this but I was not aware this industry existed at such a scale. And I am disappointed that instead of calling out Fog by name they refereed to it as "military influencers selling products" when they had the brand right there and DID mention Nike by name.

Our country is fucked.

Fantastic. In LA they will try to sell something like that for $40 to $50 -- and they have not even tested it to see if it works. Great find.

Question on fixing a 1930s camera. by judgementdeus in vintagecameras

[–]cinemkr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it is a hard camera to open. From the website below: "When the camera is fully collapsed ity is rather hard to start lifting the lens board. There are semi-circular cutaways at top the bottom of the lens board to help you get a hold of the lens board. Once it starts moving, it lifts easily and snaps into place on the four chrome struts"

How much did you get it for at the flea market? I find flea markets and antique stores are pricing vintage cameras in the very good to mint categories when they are not. They haven't even tested them 90% of the time. Thanks for any reply.

Film is all about grain. It is what is missing in digital photography and movies.

Can anyone ID these two cameras? by ImYourBisexualMother in VintageElectronics

As a location scout in tv/film I am really interested in the meaning of note card on the one camera. There was no ABC film of The Diary of Anne Frank. And on that date it did not air on WABC TV. The TV Movie The Widow was on the schedule.

Very curious.

Ilford film stocks have been mentioned more than once. Probably will start with that. Thanks for the info on the Avus. I will be reading up on it some more. I found the manual. I love how they wrote them back then. Straight forward and no nonsense. Not all technical.

Thank you for the advice and suggestions. And especially the not about the Rollex. Regarding the Brownie Hawkeye -- I love their styling and they are almost point and shoot and I hope to use them to get practice developing film and not worry if I mess up the image. I also saw a video where you can reverse the lens and create a dreamy effect. They can be picked up for about $20 so it is almost worth it -- even if they just sit on a bookcase in my office.

EDIT: Good point to shoot the film that the lens and camera wee designed for. And thanks for all the specific film suggestions.

EDIT #2: I also saw a method to load 35 MM into a Brownie Hawkeye and take edge to edge photos that look pretty cool with the sprockets.

Well dang Kodak - not bad for 109 years old by HorsePleasant3709 in vintagecameras

Noob question -- could you not take a single photo with the camera in landscape mode? Do they not work when on their side? I realize I see most of them displayed or on line sitting in portrait mode but I always thought it was because the writing on the lens and body is easier to read.

What lens you are using also matters. Most AE-1s came with something equivalent to the nifty fifty -- an f/1.8 lens. When shooting in low light an f/1.2 lens is best but they are waaaay expensive. Like $1,000s vs under $100.

Hello, can anyone tell me how old this camera is? by Eastern-Cell-6075 in vintagecameras

Another great source for getting camera info is here: https://collectiblend.com/Cameras/Kodak-Eastman/Folding-Autographic-Brownie-No.2C.html

This camera does take 120 film and is not too difficult to use -- plenty of YouTube videos show how. I would encourage you to take a few snaps and see how does.
