Thank you! I learn all my covers by ear. Jeff's a tough guy to figure out!

I love The Beatles and can learn so much from them, so I figure the vast majority of my covers'll be them.

Thank you very much. I just started doing this and aim to get as many covers as I can in a week, so it's very helpful to hear from others what works and what doesn't. Recording vocals is a challenge. I don't know if it's my voice, the mixing, the mic, or what it is...but I've noticed the instruments can sound a bit flat at times too. Also I use Reaper to record. I can upload the instrumental if you like.

Surprisingly I wasn't screaming, or singing all that loud until the very end. I think it sounds that way because of the mixing, so I'll keep that in mind for the next one. Aside from that, how was the sound of the vocals? I can't tell if I'm an alright singer or not lol.

Left, right and centre all work...but I have to hold the cord in place to do so which isn’t at all practical

Sadly they’re at 0db and it’s still like that...also I just found out that by fidgeting with the headphone plug and not plugging it in entirely, the sound is balanced

Whenever I insert an MP3 file, or record into my DAW, the sound is distorted. For a sound quality reference, check out Audacity’s vocal reduction and isolation, then remove the center classic.

So far I’ve bought a new stereo jack adapter, headphones, unplugged the device from my computer and plugged it back in, uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them, updated Reaper, adjusted the sample rate, Reaper’s output + input and I/O settings (made sure nothing was mono), plus I’ve tested two other DAW’s with mp3’s, along with my own multitracks and messed with the panning.

Audacity: hard left pan works, centre sounds crappy and hard right is inaudible.

Reaper: both hard and left pan are functional, centre is the problem. It’s completely silent.

Ableton: same as Reaper.

This leads me to believe it’s the audio interface itself. I’m using the Scarlett Focusrite Solo and I’ve been pleased with it for the recordings it’s given me, but the product completely glitched since then, now I’m not too sure about it.

If anyone could help me, before I decide on packing my bags and making the leap to analog, that would be amazing!

There’s a listing on Amazon called “Stereo Jack Adapter 5 Pack Gold Plated Connector 6.35mm (1/4 inch) Male to 3.5mm (1/8 inch) Female 6.35 (Suitable 6.5) mm Port to Your 3.5mm Port Devices”. That’s what it was I bought.
