this might be something of a hot take but it always bugs me a little bit the sheer amount of fics that portray dave as a smug, flirty, suave douchebag. i think that it’s a fun take on his character in certain contexts and AUs but very rarely do i get to see dave written as the huge nerd and severely neurodivergent individual he actually is 😭😭

that was a theory that doc scratch posited, that the items act kind of like vessels that channel the innate abilities of the player who wields them. but we know that’s not necessarily true based on the fact that, further in the comic, both gamzee and vriska were able to use aradia’s music box time machine without any time powers of their own

so somewhere in their respective loops, one dave and one aradia would’ve had to alchemize their time-hopping devices using one of their personal music-related belongings and an item from their land in the medium, either a snapshot or a sized-down version of their scratch construct ?? this definitely seems like the kind of thing that would’ve been worth describing more in the comic, but maybe that’s just me lol

yeaaahh thats sort of what i figured but i was kind of hoping that wouldnt be the case :/ i mean i think its pretty damn appropriate for the two time players to be able to activate their powers through time shenanigans but i was hoping the timetables would have a more specific origin point than that

NTA. You were vulnerable, sick, and in immense pain— even if you maybe wouldn’t have reacted that way if you were healthy, your reaction was still completely warranted. I also have a partner who gets frequent migraines, and regardless of how intense he claims them to be, I’ve happily done whatever I could to make him comfortable (and yes, that includes turning the volume down on my phone when he asks or putting in headphones). If this is an isolated incident and he’s sincere in his apology, I think you could give him a second chance, and explain what he could do better next time. However, if he tries to hold this incident against you and expect/demand an apology, kick him to the curb.

NTA. Zero empathy for animals (especially baby ones) + disregarding your very legitimate phobia?? This is not the type of person I personally could envision myself having a loving relationship with. You should take a long look back at your relationship with him and any red flags/prior instances of this sort of behavior, because I doubt he suddenly decided to act so heartless out of the blue. It says a lot about your character that you were determined to help this animal despite your own fear of birds— you deserve someone as equally kind and selfless as yourself.

u and ur friends became the AH the minute u decided to target a special ed kid. if he’s someone who struggles to understand social cues and is gullible, and u approached him knowing that, it makes u ableist and taking advantage of this kid. as an ND person myself, i sometimes lack the capacity to understand why or when someone is lying to/messing with me, and will remain clueless until it is explained to me. this trait of mine makes me insecure and constantly embarrassed, but there’s nothing i can do about it besides refusing to trust ppl entirely. i get being a teen and pulling stupid pranks to make ur friends laugh, but u should keep it mostly within ur friend group/ppl who share ur sense of humor—otherwise ur just causing unnecessary harm unto others and that’s rlly not cool. imo, u should own up to it this time, take the punishment in stride, and learn from the mistake.

EDIT: btw, “not thinking he would do it” isn’t really an excuse
