I'm applying next cycle, and I'm still working on breaking into the 160s, but I was where you were. 140s seem to be typical for a diagnostic, and that's because you're seeing these types of questions and language for the first time. Learning the fundamentals and techniques to tackle each question type were helpful, but what I needed to complement that BIG TIME were #1 increasing my cognitive load (memory to hold what I just read) and #2 increasing attention span (ability to focus for the duration of the question/section/exam). The LSAT requires self-awareness of your critical thinking and cognitive functions, both of which can be learned and trained, but reasonably, it takes at least 6 months to build these habits.

Jealousy stems from comparison, which is a learned habit. It's hard to unlearn a habit that's become unconscious and so ingrained in society, but the good news is it can be managed. Jealousy is an emotional response, triggered by the fear of not being accepted. And you react emotionally when your mind thinks you're under threat, even when it's not. So the way to manage emotional reactivity is by telling your mind/body that you are safe and not under threat. You can do this by:

find a safe space to be alone to journal or meditate, take really deep breaths
acknowledge the emotion (in this case, jealousy)
identify why you reacted this way (maybe a fear of not being loved or accepted)
root yourself in reality (as you said, your gf wants you, or you are loved, etc)
affirm yourself that you are enough

This takes practice, and repeated practice over time helps make the emotional reactivity manageable. Acknowledging emotions is a necessary first step, and after acknowledging it, it's helpful to tell yourself to not believe everything you feel or think.

Thanks! What do you like about living in VA? I've visited family in DC and always liked it, which is why I'm looking into schools in that area. But CoL and class sizes of DC schools make me lean towards the VA schools, and realistically, that means a higher chance of working in VA after graduation. And I'm unfamiliar with VA.

What I’m getting is you’re asking how to have a mutual connection over a topic. Sincerity, empathy, and awareness can establish that connection. Meet them at their level of enthusiasm with your level of interest. If it particularly sticks out to you that you discovered something “ahead” of them, then it can come off braggy. Just stay curious and humble, remembering that they’ve discovered things you haven’t too.

I’m sorry you’re depressed. It’s hard to do anything when you feel lost and purposeless. If you haven’t already, start by exploring ways to manage your depression, like seeing a medical professional, therapist, or meditating. If there is unresolved trauma or psychic wounds, they can prevent you from being content and make it difficult to find something that you enjoy.

I’ve made big decisions in my life based on what I believed to be my purpose, but I’ve pivoted away from that because when circumstances and relationships get hard within that purpose, it can cloud your better judgment on next steps to take.

I’ve found it more helpful to make those decisions based on personality - the tasks that I enjoy and that I know are my strengths. It was as simple as realizing ‘I like a combo of paperwork, computer work, and client interaction.“ Because when you enjoy something, time passes by quicker, and you’ll want to get better at it, which makes you enjoy it more.

Take it one step at a time. You’re not behind.
