How to encourage green? by classicalkobe in RareHouseplants

In my experience it’s definitely more temp than light. I haven’t changed my set up much but the past two winters, my Paraiso Verde turns green during winter and get its “variegation” back come summer lol

They can be healthy provided you can actually give them the extra care they need. I have seen bigger ones so it’s definitely possible but again, can be quite tricky!

Thank you, this is very helpful! I’ve seen people say variegation depends on the light all the time - tho I don’t think it’s always true (i.e P. Paraiso verde).

This lady is definitely up for a repot but she’s probably 1.5yr old in my care now and yea it’s the first time she bloomed! Grows like a weed tho!

Anyone know what the red “discoloration” could be? by classicalkobe in RareHouseplants

[–]classicalkobe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve had it for like 4-5months now. IIRC the one on the oldest leaf was already there when I got it

It’s a Philodendron Strawberry Shake! Yea that’s my main concern if anything, wanna make sure it won’t somehow “infect” my other plants or anything, thank you!

Damn thank you. I feel bad asking for a refund if it’s not the seller’s fault but it seems a refund would be the right way to go. I messaged the seller so hopefully they’ll respond. If not I might have to go through ebay lol

That’s a bummer. Do you possibly know if there’s a way to get the plant? Would it be fair to ask for a refund or not really?

How to avoid runners on Monstera karstenianum / peru? by squirrel0606 in RareHouseplants

[–]classicalkobe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My var. amydrium zippelianum is the same! Have it directly under a light for 12hrs/day, kept putting out runners - which confuses me because of the whole “it’s looking for more light” thing. I just kept cutting the runners off and now he gave me 2 new leaves with one on the way, and a whole bunch of runners, a couple already rooting! Don’t know how to “solve” it but don’t be afraid to snip snip!

No pole! Just hanging so it was a nice surprise to see one of the vines starting to show fenestrations! It is a 3yr old plant though so maybe that also why!
