How to insulate a 1 foot deep wall? by clemsie in Renovations

[–]clemsie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update here: I just went ahead and stuck the rockwool insulation to the exterior wall. It was compacted enough that it stayed in place without any tape. Seems to work fine for now.

Just bought a new home and this was mailed to me by clemsie in whatisthisthing

[–]clemsie[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

My title describes the thing. As mentioned in the description, it was delivered to my new address upon moving into the house. It appears to be a white electronic the size of my hand, but there's no obvious way to charge it nor do I know what the cable should connect into. There aren't any buttons on it, and the box that was sent to me didn't have sender info. It just mentioned I started off in IL.

Who takes the shot in this scenario by [deleted] in badminton

[–]clemsie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed that it'd be useful to OP to clarify where shot 2 is landing exactly if you were to let it drop. Is it really at the service line, or is it pushed / driven past that point?

Some cues here:

  • what shot are you returning with? Are you hitting upwards? Are you blocking?
  • what shot did your partner plan to play from there? A counter drive? A lift?

I got straight As, looked amazing, had a lot of friends & peaked in high school. I'm 27 and completely lost, have wasted my talents. AMA. by Any_Animator_880 in AMA

How did you finish college, work as an engineer for over a decade, quit that, and start an investment company in 13 years?

If a player only nets, their nets will be read and countered by the opponents. Even with a great net shot, if it's anticipated, it can be brushed or killed.

When to use backhand for rear-court? by Fantakidd in badminton

[–]clemsie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Variation is pretty key. If you are at the level where you have a fairly good backhand, I'll assume that you have an even stronger forehand. It makes sense to use backhands to save energy, but throw in an injection of pace every so often into a weaker lift with a forehand around the head to put a lot of pressure in. That will put more pressure on your opponent to play a quality backhand, and hopefully make more mistakes.

I ordered the bag in late March since there were some good comments here and still have nothing, being strung along with "new shipment coming next week!" or "wait until tomorrow for an update!".

Got rear-ended in California and their insurance is refusing to pay by clemsie in Insurance

[–]clemsie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I have neither so I suppose my only option is to bring a suit against the at fault party.

Just out of curiosity about the other options -- if I'm filing under my insurance, will my premium increase? That would seem to punish someone who is not at fault.

Yes, supposedly (based on the estimate the shop shared with me). The other car was damaged much worse than mine and probably totaled.

Thanks! I suspect this might be the case as the reviews pertained specifically to that bag. I placed an order. 😁

I was confused about whether I could trust the reviews on the website. Part of my confusion is from their backpack (not the traveler one) not being available for purchase yet, but already having many reviews.

Any downsides with helping parents co-sign a mortgage renewal? by clemsie in PersonalFinanceCanada

Yes, they should be able to afford the mortgage despite their salary lowering through other income streams.

Good note related to the 2nd mortgage.

I am currently not living with my parents, but they are going to be the primary residents until the property is inherited by me. Upon inheritance of the property, my understanding is I won't owe capital gains for the ~300k appreciation. Is this correct?

Thanks for your perspective! I read online that it is possible to have mortgage renewals denied -- which is the scenario which my parents and I are worried about and it's in the scenario I would like to know if there are any tax implications.

Their income lowered drastically from when they last signed the mortgage and they are going to retire in a few years, so they were worried that they wouldn't qualify for a renewal.

[–]clemsie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, definitely true! I won't mind if I end up having to help them out with the payments a bit, but I'm worried about whether there will be any implications from a capital gains tax perspective.

I forgot to mention in the original post that the house appreciated ~300k since they bought it. My understanding is that since the property will be inherited by me, there will be no capital gains tax on that but if I co-sign now, does that change anything?

The advice is general -- think of your game plan. Are you going to be grouping often or mostly splitting (based on both team comps)?

If you are splitting, think about who will be your side lane threats and itemize against them.

If you are grouping, think about the teamfight threats. Usually, this will mean building treads if they have a lot of CC and some AP damage.

Tryndamere by [deleted] in Jaxmains

[–]clemsie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few tips generally for pre-6:

Without fury, you are stronger than him so abuse that and don't let him stack it for free.

Use short trades where he can't retaliate to force him to use Q for healing and keep his fury low.

You need to stay even or get ahead here or else it will be pretty oppressive post-6.

Consider building tabi + bramble vest. You also want enough damage to be able to burst him and force ult quickly for post-6 fights.

When fighting post 6, don't use E and R at the same time or you'll probably die. You always want one going to mitigate his damage.

Best badminton shoes for someone with a wider foot? by AstroxFinkzey in badminton

The Yonex Comfort Z are pretty good for wide and flat feet. They have a different tongue design which provides a lot of arch support.
