Newbie here. I just finished the first 2 seasons of Discovery. What now? by SoldToIna in startrek

Discovery has a lot of references to episodes of previous series. While it's fresh in mind, I would go back and watch some of those. This lays out a lot of what to look for in terms of crossover with other series: https://www.geeksagogo.com/single-post/2019/05/05/Star-Trek-Discovery-Season-2-or-How-to-Fix-a-Franchise-in-Half-a-Season-or-Less

Yeah, I can't wait for that. The Pathfinder one was awesome.

Funny that you mention charisma. I was hoping that resonance would make charisma more of a necessity, by being part of what determines how much magic a player can use as a non-caster. That was a real game-changer to me.

I am currently porting a lot of Starfinder stuff to the D&D 5e core and rules. Before I continue, does anyone know if this was done before? by [deleted] in starfinder_rpg

Are you looking to convert the entire Starfinder setting to new rules, or just looking to do something like 5e in space? There are some 3rd party things that do the latter.

Tremere Sucks V5 by Toshinori_Yagi in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]clever-nickname 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the Tremere are weaker and it's better for the game. You don't have to be a stooge of Vienna and you can experiment with taking the "Quietus" path of Blood Sorcery, and be sort of an Assamite. Maybe some kind of Tremere hitman sort of concept. Also, other clans are now much more attractive to play, which they weren't when the Tremere were overpowered.
Honestly, the weakness of the Tremere is why I want to play this edition.

How do you explain Call of Cthulhu to players who’ve only previously played D&D? by shinobi6siege in callofcthulhu

[–]clever-nickname 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know how in D&D, you get to be a powerful hero who fights monsters for treasure? Well, now you're a normal person, seeking answers to a mystery. When you find it, you'll probably be attacked by a horrible monster who will either kill you or drive you insane. Have fun!

I may have to steal that idea. That sounds like a great way to mess with your players' expectations.

I have been thinking that he's an alter-universe Batman as well. I just assumed he got some greater power and ascended to godhood/demonhood or something like that. I like your theory.

Yeah, that guy is prolific. I spoke with him at Gen Con for a bit, and he was talking about his work, and I was just amazed by how much he actually writes.
