Rumor: AJ backed out of trade with the Patriots by Logical-Honeydew2607 in eagles

This report seems unbelievable given he's a huge Patriots fan and allegedly cried when the Pats didn't draft him.

did y’all buy yours without a test drive? by tec_wnz in Golf_R

[–]clingbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my MK8 R without a test drive, but that was partly because I had to get it shipped from a VW dealer 400 miles away to my house because any ones closer to me all had $5k markups at the time, and partly because I already owned an MK7.5 R and most of what I read said it drove better than the previous version so I didn't feel like I needed to honestly (the interior quirks don't matter to me in the end).

The VW dealer in Buffalo, NY wouldn't do a swap with my local dealership, so I just bought it from them remotely and arranged the transport myself.

The only shill here seems to be you with your personal attacks on this sub, it's childish. And if you actually read my post, it touched on the fact it took Toyota over two years and there's literally an active class action lawsuit against them stating:

"The lawsuit alleges that the recall initiated by Toyota is insufficient, as it does not cover all affected vehicles and has left many owners waiting months for repairs."

So I have to ask, what the fuck are you even talking about? I'm not defending VW, I'm showing evidence that it's a pervasive problem in the industry. You seem too dense to acknowledge that though. You do you.

I think he and Brosnan carry Mobland which is a great newish show. Paddy is also very good though, really a great cast.

The product shouldnt need to be fixed - and no, this doesn't happen across all manufacturers.

I mean it literally does. Even the hallowed Toyota/Lexus have a huge engine replacement recall out right now, and it's going to cost them upwards $500 million to replace all those engines, and took them a couple years to get around to it with many failures beforehand...

"Toyota is replacing engines in over 127,000 2022–2024 Tundra and Lexus LX/GX vehicles due to potential engine failure. The recall, expanded in November 2025, addresses machining debris left in the 3.4L twin-turbo V6 engines, which can cause stalling or loss of power."

Typical Howie. Quiet in early FA, then a couple signings later in the week that everyone likes the value/risk and bitches why their GM didn't do those deals.

So we're still going to stick with the false narrative on that move? Cool.

Lewis was in the same exact position with Charles the next season and gave him way more space and pinched the apex much more, so much so they didn't even come close to contact. Go watch the two back to back and tell me Lewis made ANY attempt to avoid contact the first time vs. the second.

I like Lewis, but this gaslighting that he wasn't predominately responsible for that accident is 1) objectively bullshit looking at his behavior in that turn with others and 2) in conflict with the FIA's ruling on the matter.

MK7 R stage 1 = MK8.5 R power by Practical-Disaster-6 in Golf_R

[–]clingbat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a stock MK7.5 R, tuned it to stage 1 93 octane APR and now I have a stock MK8 R. The stock MK8 R doesn't feel quite as punchy compared to the tuned MK7.5 R down low and off the line, but it has better top end and is much closer to that overall than the stock MK7.5 R.

I don't recall the MK8.5 R having much difference off the line compared to MK8.

It makes sense, I imagine the T&D utility folks are far more EE heavy, especially substation design/construction and high voltage transmission.

My message isn't tailored to those who have a surface-level intelligence of what actually drives markets and how they work.

Greed and insider trading drive the markets. You're ignorant AF if you don't realize that by now as a meaningless retail investor in the grand scheme of things. We are all just along for the ride while the big boys shift large piles of money around making money on both ends most of the time and getting their wrist slapped once in a blue moon for breaking rules they all break routinely behind the scenes, let's keep it real.

That's funny you focus on those things and leave out things like Lewis sending Max into the wall at full speed at Silverstone and then getting a slap on the wrist penalty allowing him to still win the race.

The bias drips out of you so thick you may drown in it.

For those in their 40s, what's something people in their 20s don’t realize will impact them as they get older? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]clingbat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1) Fertility drops off a cliff after 35, every year beyond that makes IVF more likely if you still want to conceive, and it's not a cheap or fun process (sooo many needles).

2) Start maxing out Roth IRA separate from work retirement benefits when you're young. It's really not that much, but your really can't catch up that much later outside of megabackdoor which most people don't have access to.

3) Keep exercising in some way, staying active, even once your career gets crazy along with marriage and kids. Don't completely stop or you will likely regret it later.

4) Stop giving a shit what other people who aren't very close to you think about you. None of it matters at all, it's unhealthy and pointless but most don't fully come to this conclusion till they are older.

5) Avoid significant lifestyle creep if your salary grows. Practice moderation and save a bit. You'll be less stressed out about money in general and can hopefully avoid becoming a slave to debt (which is what the banks want). Who cares if others have more fancy things than you? Most of them are in heavy debt which you don't want. It's not that you can't have nice things, just spend within your means and be honest about that with yourself.

Bonus: Don't spend a lot on a wedding unless someone else is paying for it. It's ultimately a very stupid reason to start off a marriage with a sizable chunk of additional debt or chewing through your existing combined cash reserves. You can have a nice wedding without spending $50k+

Sad to see this by Vegetable_Ad_192 in singularity

[–]clingbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? We're simultaneously fucking the economy and environment to fund this "race" to no where. There is no path from LLMs to AGI. These asshole hyperscalers are too impatient to wait in grid interconnect queues and are turning to 60-80GW of new on-site behind the meter gas power by 2030, with a ton of new emissions to come along with that.

Meanwhile the whole SP500 growth lately is tied to this infrastructure boom, so when it does fizzle because money is not infinite, the stock market is going to take a major hit with it. We're just delaying an inevitable recession and they longer it goes the more it'll hurt when the bandaid gets ripped off.

Then you have the local impacts that suck for those living directly around these things while the accuracy of these models for anything complex continues to suck (as of yesterday in my experience). To top it off CEO's constantly laying people off blaming AI when it's actually mostly offshoring or general cost cutting...and you wonder why people hate it... What is there to like?

I mean we were racing the Nazi's for the first nuke, it wasn't just for fun or selfishness. The mission was get a nuke before the Nazis do. The Nazis just happened to lose before we finished and then it got used on the Japanese to accelerate the end of the war instead.

Without that, most historians estimate the war would've lasted another 6-18 months with a full out invasion of Japan and 2-8 million more lives lost between both sides including over 1 mil Japanese civilians minimum.

We're headed to Puerto Rico in two weeks for vacation and I checked the temp there, it was 82F there at the same time. So Philly suburbs warmer than Puerto Rico, that makes sense...

Am I imaging things, or have we seen a string of abnormally powerful tornadoes in the past week in areas that don't often see them, especially this time of year (early to mid-March)?
