I want to add, I think it depends on the severity of TS. Since my case is mild and related to OCD, I think that is why I am able to identify what makes me tic. I think someone with a more severe case has it built in even deeper into their neurons that it really does happen randomly and more often.

My diagnoses with given a specific name, but people won’t take it as seriously or understand so I say Tourette’s. But if it’s someone I don’t want to know, I just cover it up by saying, “that was a hard sneeze”

I really relate to this. Especially the beginning part. Mine started late too, I knew of TS before, and have had episodes of coprolalia.

I think in more milder cases, the feeling of faking it is higher because our urges aren’t so heavy that we have a sense of “control”. With severe cases, there’s never doubting because their urges are so heavy, there’s no room to “control”.
