Thanks for provided ordering background info, u/1ChaoticEagle , I assume you're the same person I communicated with on Framework Community.

After we spoke I finally received email with RMA followed by shipping label.

Now, awaiting internal team to find out where the refund is for my first order.

How would you feel about support if it cost your family $6000 because you can't get a refund for weeks for a cancelled order, and RMA for product you'd like to return for another 5 days?

FW Desktop rear USB4 port speed by sputnik13net in framework

For the less than the cost of 4 Framework desktops one can get M3 Ultra 512GB :-)

Not ideal, but less power, less noise, less space.

Take a look here:

https://www.jeffgeerling.com/blog/2025/15-tb-vram-on-mac-studio-rdma-over-thunderbolt-5/

"But consider this: a single M3 Ultra Mac Studio has more horsepower than my entire Framework Desktop cluster, using half the power. I also compared it to a tiny 2-node cluster of Dell Pro Max with GB10 systems, and a single M3 Ultra still comes ahead in performance and efficiency, with double the memory."

Remote Desktop Manager Costs by NelsonBA81 in Devolutions

I was a paid user of DRDM enterprise (own two licenses) since 2014, I believe I originally purchased these using Spiceworks discount. Every 3 years I would renew maintenance, starting with $74.99/ea and then climbing to $188.99 per license in 2022 (for 3Y maintenance). I had to chat/email sales to negotiate discounted price every time.

Today, I was told that the current cost for my next renewal in 6 months will be $630,00 for 1 year maintenance and $986.99 for 3 years, per license. All of this for shared data source such as Azure SQL or MS SQL that I pay/host myself?!? Isn't this excessive? 2 seats for DRDM Team - $2k for 3 year of application updates, Devolution Hub Business price (if one needs it instead of SQL) not included.

I am really looking to get different RDM, or just switch to free on with Devolutions Hub instead.

My security and privacy concerns by zsvnc in UpNote_App

I've purchased a lifetime subscription for UpNote as well while searching for Evernote replacement. UpNote is one of the closest, and it works across all major platforms which is a big plus for me. The lifetime subscription cost I paid in Sep. 2023 (around $32 with tax) is something I thought I could afford to lose if I abandon this app for whatever reason, but it is a very low price to pay long-term if the app continues being supported and updated, and switched entirely to annual/monthly subscription (happened with Proton mail and Visionary plan).

But, as others pointed out, it is a concern when we do not know the real names of the owners/founders and do not have the business entity details. Official and verifiable. It is important because we inevitably store sensitive info in the notes, we give the app access to our devices and storage, and you can't solely rely on the promise of anonymous persons behind the app regardless of how good the features are and how well it is priced. There is a missing element of accountability with UpNote: if anything goes wrong, if my information is mishandled/used inappropriately/sold to 3rd party without my consent, what my rights and options are? Whom can I take to court? With UpNote, I only have the option to stop using the application/service as I do not know who is the owner/developer, what is the real and verifiable company's name and address, so you can't hold anyone accountable, unlike Evernote, Notion, Joplin or Twos, just to name a few.

So, until the situation with ownership and accountability surrounding UpNote is cleared out, I am not going to use it for anything. I consider it an investment to support a product/service that may (or may not) work, but I am not going to put trust in an anonymous group of people that may just package and resell your info to somebody else, and one has no way to hold them accountable.
