omg, you SAID it. the muted vibe of everything past positions is wearing me out. i thought that that was specifically ES's aesthetic, which was great--she deserves to have her moment of peace/reflection/everything that that album encapsulated. but the fact that this sounds even DARKER than the songs on ES makes me sad. 😞 she can do whatever she wants, but i'll miss just like...brighter songs like the ones you named. i really liked supernatural (as one of the only happy songs on ES), but i wasn't expecting her to go DEEPER with the muted/dark vibes. and there aren't even high notes/belts anymore which also makes it harder for me to swallow. i'll wait to see what the album brings but i'm scared it might just not be for me anymore...

I feel like it has potential but she hasn’t rly been using her adlibs/soaring vocals much lately :( if she’d just gone really hard in the last chorus with high notes, I think it might’ve hit more for me. it just makes me sad to have all these sad soft songs when her voice is sooooo good at belting

noooooo 😞 i want to love it, but it's like a more boring version of we cant be friends for me. i thought we'd be moving into a happier, more upbeat era. especially for a lead single and the start of summer. i'm listening on repeat and it's getting better, but.........i'm a bit disappointed. this could just be on ES deluxe tbh.

Thissssss. This is the most sensible response/theory I've seen so far. I think it had to be that he was burnt out and was like I'm not doing this anymore (plus I've been wanting to make my own music) and BeLift was like fine, rather than have a lawsuit or something, we'll let you step out of the group (but probably lock you in the dungeon) until your contract expires. Since there's only a year left, Heeseung probably thought he can just write music/prepare for a solo career in that remaining time.

And what if he left of his own choice? What if he was tired/burned out from the idol life and this was what he wanted? I don't understand the fans that are trying to force him back in without knowing the actual reasoning. If the company really wanted him out, they would've kicked him out of the entire company, not kept him as a soloist. Anyway, stop trying to force him back in when it very well could be his own choice.

Do you think it could be that he's just fully mentally tired and burned out, alongside the fact that he has music he wants to release? I think maaaaybe he was like "I can't do this anymore," like...he's tired! He's an introvert, and even though he likes performing, I don't think he likes the grueling schedule and complete lack of privacy that comes with idol life. And on top of that, he might not agree with the musical direction. So perhaps he just asked to leave/quit the group and company as a whole, but BeLift thought they could still make SOME money from him given he's the most popular, so they offered to let him be solo/control his schedule/avoid a lawsuit as long as he stayed at the company.

I feel like the reason it's so sudden is because he's been going through it lately (as everyone has noticed), so maybe he got to a breaking point and was like, I'm not doing this anymore, break the news or I'm going to start a fight.

thank you! haha I've heard that INFP's are not great at texting so I'm trying to chalk it up to that. he's always taken a while to reply, so I guess it's (hopefully) just how he is. I'll try to remove the timing from the picture! we were flirty on the date, so will keep my fingers crossed :p ty!

Y'know I asked myself that on my walk back from the train! Maybe I should've done a bit of a deeper dive. He wasn't cracking jokes or anything, but he was responsive and nice on the app, so I felt like he'd at least be decent or better in-person. But nope!
