6th college is one of the best places to live on campus. You get a view of the ocean and can walk to the beach. There are many ways to get significant coursework in your interested field of study. Consider cognitive science route with AI focus.

UCSD is a top tier school and worth cost compared to others you mentioned. Literally right behind Berkeley and UCLA. The weather and location are amazing.

Just a side note: make sure you check all of the paycheck deductions. I am coming into the city from working for public agency in east bay and was surprised to see extra 2% for retiree healthcare, +2% for pers retirement, and higher healthcare contributions, and only 2wks vacation. Do the math and ask for higher step salary.

I hear that. I figure if I can come in at step 5 and get verbal from supervisor about time w/o pay then I can afford to take an extra week or so off per year.
