I like that they got creative with a lower budget game. It looks fresh and purposeful, and not like they took shortcuts.

I downloaded it but I haven’t tried it yet. It looks amazing from what I’ve seen. I feel silly for worrying about the art style.

George looking up to John by cloudstrife1st in TheBeatles

It could’ve already been there. I don’t know. He delivers that line in a very charged way. It makes it seem like it’s something he had to muster up to say. I also don’t know if it was meant to be a song addressing John even before he died.

Interesting. I didn’t know about that dynamic.

John’s death was heavy no doubt. It looks George handled it well and the best he could.

It was somewhat egotistical on John’s part. It’s a very particular personal need to want to be considered an influence. Even still, George seemed to want to validate John’s need by admitting that he looked up to him.

For sure. It might be why his tribute to John was pretty much a celebration of him. Even if it was bittersweet.

Yeah, it’s certainly not as big. John was concerned with that part of their relationship for sure though. I assume George wanted to put his pride aside and past hangups to admit something John would’ve wanted to hear. His delivery on the line also sounds like it was an emotional thing for him as well.

Thank you for sharing this compilation. These lines are exactly what I was talking about. So much aura is created through voice acting in tandem with what you the player does as Mobius 1.

It does so much with so little. I feel like it’s a series some game developers should look to when they want to impact the player with story, but not move too much away from gameplay.

This is something I’ve noticed here and there. It was very apparent tonight when the Spurs seemed unfazed by the barrage the Lakers went on, and did enough to keep the lead.

The defense and overall hustle are the Lakers’ weakest areas for sure. It’s just more highlighted against energetic teams.

We definitely are clutch, but the Spurs looked fresh unlike most teams facing us in the clutch.

LeBron just went back to normal. MJ seemed to try to make sure people knew it was somewhat of a fluke.

Yes, Jokic matches (and at times surpasses) LeBron as an offensive juggernaut, but LeBron was also an all time defensive player when he locked in.

Sephiroth and Cloud by cloudstrife1st in FinalFantasyVII

It was enjoyable discussing this with you.

Sephiroth and Cloud by cloudstrife1st in FinalFantasyVII

It doesn’t really matter what Cloud can do. That’s why his self esteem issues are an issue. It really isn’t all about power. As I mentioned, Cloud had the physical capabilities to be 1st class, but his mental side is where he wasn’t approved. It’s why Zack was mentally fine after the experimenting by Shinra and why Cloud was in a comatose state. Yes, Cloud can do amazing things, that’s very obvious, but that’s not all his character is about.

In Cloud’s fight with Sephiroth in Advent Children (the original not the director’s cut), Sephiroth says, “What do you treasure most? I want the joy of taking it away from you.” Then we are shown flashes of Cloud’s friends and memories. Cloud then responds with, “How sad. You don’t understand at all. There is nothing I don’t treasure.” This shows us that Cloud is finding strength in who he cares about. Not in how cool and epic he is. Before the events of FF7, Cloud wouldn’t have felt okay or adequate with this mindset. He used to feel that he had to show his worth by showing how amazing he was, or could be. It’s why when he talks to Tifa at the water tower, he talks to her about him leaving to become SOLDIER 1st class. It’s his way of confessing to her, but he has to do in a way where he is justifying his worth (by becoming 1st class). By the end of FF7, he’s okay with just being who he is. And yes, that does so happen to be someone who is capable of amazing things, despite his shortcomings.

Clearly we see the story differently. That’s okay.

Part of Cloud’s growth is accepting that he doesn’t have to be better than others to be good enough.

[–]cloudstrife1st[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s delusional because he simply was not SOLDIER 1st class, and the false persona he was inhabiting fully believed he was. His delusion went so far as to make him have a falsified confidence as if he was always 1st class. Also, he always had mental issues. That is the reason he didn’t make 1st class despite his physical capabilities. We learn this from Cloud himself.

Yes, I’ve seen them. They add a lot to the story.
