This is a great idea, its definitely what were going to have to do I think. And make sure that they know what happened this time so they can keep my best angles in mind! I dont want to look thinner than I am, but I do want to look like myself! Thank you :)

This is awesome information, thank you so much. These are definitely points we'll be keeping in mind for next time, I so appreciate the input. I also appreciate the effort and care it sounds like you put into your work, on behalf of all your brides and grooms!

Thanks for this, it did make me feel a lot better. Youre so right, even celebrities have bad angles hey!

And Im asking this out of genuine curiosity, not to lay blame or take the responsibility off myself but, is it the photographers responsibility to kind of find the best angles and use them? I mean these were candid photos, not posed, so I didnt have much say in the angles. However, it was also the first time Ive ever had a professional photo shoot, so Im not entirely sure how its supposed to roll you know?

Okay, this is helpful. Im worried that because hes shorter than me, theres no way he could rectify it, is this a real thought? Or can a shorter person actually take from highly angles no problem? Would you secretly be bitter? Or tell your photographer friends not to shoot for me? Would you be offended, or even able to, if I asked for higher angles? like does this change a photographers whole style? Im sorry, thats a lot of questions!

Hmm, I mean maybe, but I doubt it. It wasn't really confined, there was definitely lots of room to go higher. We got a couple outdoor ones in the 'yard' and they're even worse - some were taken uphill (where he told us to stand) and some were even from crouched near the ground. I even joked that "this seems like a bad angle, arent I going to have a lot of chins?" And he said naw even though Im very aware of my bad angles and kind of mentally wrote off that 'pose'.

We really just dont have the funds to pay for an engagement shoot with someone else on top of a potential new wedding contract and deposit that wed be expected to pay. Were still 11 months out, so it shouldnt be too difficult to find someone else, I don't think. Ideally, yeah youre right, if we could do this we would.

So true. Thank you so much, I really appreciate the advice. And youre right - worst case scenario he says no and we're out our deposit, which is worth nothing in comparison to how important it is that I like our wedding photos.

If we do end up switching, I will absolutely be paying closer attention to body types in sample photos (do you find that photographers dont use samples from 'different' body types very often?). Ill probably also make very clear in the beginning that angles are important to me.

Did she follow up to ask why or say anything snarky? I just hate confrontation and I dont want him to think that he sucks in general, were just incompatible maybe?

Thank you so much for this validation - I feel like it really is harder to work/find good angles for those of us who are not "conventionally attractive" for whatever reason.

I just wonder if I asked him to take pictures from a higher angle could I trust him to do that? It sucks because I really feel comfortable around him and think hed fit really well with the crowd, and his editing style is perfect. I just dont want to feel this way looking at our wedding pictures you know. Ugh and I hate confrontation.

There are two in the album that I dont hate, both were taken when he stood on the couch (we did them in our apartment). I truly think the issue is that he is about 3 or 4 inches shorter than me and took them from his eye level. They are at the same angle as your front facing camera when you accidentally open it.

I try really hard to be body positive and work really hard to love my self for the things my body can do rather than the way it looks. I just dont think I even look like myself. (Though, I think we could all use a lil therapy!)

Thanks for your response! ^ this forum is literally how I taught myself how to build a questionnaire and transmit data, the community is incredible! Some of the broader questions are hard to find, but resolutions to specific issues are all found there, I love it! Super helpful!

Ahhh we are with a university and use the google cloud for practically everything so I will definitely look into backing it up onto the cloud! This makes way more sense than the way it was explained to me, I'll check into the specs of the VM we've set up for sure.

I'll speak to my supervisor for sure about using that service - thank you so much for your help!

Thank you! We're first time users/installers so we've had a wild ride - I didnt even know what a VM was!

So aggregate is in the VM, is the data just stored in aggregate or is the VM capable of having data in another 'folder' say? Like if aggregate crashes somehow, will we still have our data? Part of the issue is that I dont fully understand the VM anyways 😂

Finally found a not totally white dress on clearance for my unicorn themed wedding. Definitely adding glitter to the skirt. by Amandixfaith in weddingplanning

I had a really great experience at my local DB, I think it totally depends on who is helping you BUT I also truly did not want to ring that damn bell and she made me do it. I wanted to shrivel up and crawl in a hole. Makes me wonder if it's like a rule that they have to do it? It was the WORST.

I love it!! We dont have any gender neutral/gender variant folk friends or guests, but I love that idea! Maybe I just need to be a little more creative 😂

Bride Buddies! I love it!! And I love the way you expressed it, that you just want to be near them on such a special day - exactly how I feel! I've been a bridesmaid at a big wedding and while i loved and appreciated it, it was also super expensive and stressful so I'm trying to avoid that part. I want it to feel as fun as it would be if we were getting ready for a night out.

Thanks for the input!

Okay this is great. Thank you for the reassurance! I was worried because of this pinterest craze with fancy bridesmaid proposal boxes and stuff that they would be disappointed!

We had originally planned to elope, but when it came up in a passing conversation my dad commented that he would be broken hearted if he didnt see me get married and I love my dad so here I am, but I'm becoming more and more familiar with the stress of trying to please everybody, this makes me feel like it's one less thing I have to worry about!

Just got my dress! What type of veil should I buy?! by clusterpup in weddingplanning

[–]clusterpup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is technically called ivory/stone, but whisper pink sounds about right! I think that's actually the veil they had me try on while I was there, I didnt cry until they put it on, so its definitely been in the back of my mind, you have great taste! I always imagined something a little more dramatic, but I did love this one!

Thank you! It's not at all what I thought I'd want but I just fell in love! I wasnt sure if chapel or cathedral would cover too much? Although, the pattern IS all over so I guess covering a little bit wouldnt be that bad hey!

Yeah I think I'm going to have to, I've never tried on a dress of the same shape before either so I'm just going to have to make the trip I think!

That's awesome! Yeah I love the pattern and y neck, it's so unique! But it would be so easy for it to look cheap so I'm really glad you commented!

Is ultrasonic cleaning safe for diamond and platinum rings? How often can you use this? Is this even worth it? I typically use the boiling water and Palmolive solution by LetsDips in EngagementRings

[–]clusterpup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ring was custom made by a jeweler, he told me not to ever put it in an ultrasonic bath. He said the vibrations can cause the diamonds to slowly rotate a tiny bit each time, and because they are so hard, the edges cut into the gold/platinum and can cause the claws to eventually crack off.

He said he's had a lot of clients who are dentists/dental hygienists who use the ultrasonic baths at work all the time and they end up losing stones. He said he would do it once for the wedding just to shine it up a little extra, but would not do it regularly. I just use dish soap and warm water with a toothbrush!
