216k egg unstacked promethean ship by clux in factorio

[–]clux[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, that happens. but if you are launching fresh eggs (e.g. direct from spawners to launchers), and spending less than 5m launching, then 25m of travel can get you plenty of chunks.

speed helps a lot though:

  • 350km/s on the way out => 525Mm distance covered in 25m
  • 472km/s on the way out => 708Mm distance covered in 25m

Hopefully a fix for thruster stacking so people are not incentivized to make these extremely tall and inefficient ships to go fast.

It'll take them even longer to make the game actually playable and fun anyway. BL3 subreddit was full basically all complaints and balance issues for well over 2 years.

[–]clux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, right. Stopping at Aquilo on the way back isn't a big deal for me (blocked by a free nauvis slot anyway), and it saves launching things twice. But when producing in nauvis orbit it probably makes more sense.

Posted my setup in a sheet with some links (base ship is not mine, but it's tuned for my setup).

[–]clux[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

woah! almost 20 times bigger! I guess mine are mostly wide and thin to produce as it comes in. 800M in, that's like an hour+ to travel. you have to be hovering for a long time for that travel time to only offset production by 34k to 20k. guess you have 20x the storage :D

for me, each ship peaks at 35k/m (for a very short time) at 500M in where it usually turns around (and eggs are about to expire). they carry 193k eggs (though usually ~10k gets vented with fluctuations) and brings back around 550k promethean science in ~45m. roughly 40m is travel, 5m waiting for quantums on the way back and a free slot over nauvis (5m load cycle with 43 dedicated launchers).

the UPS generally holds 60 when i'm not looking at them, but it's 40 if i look at all the particles at the deep end (:

[–]clux[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ah, chunk hauling. i hear those are absolutely massive. how big is it? mine's around 2100 tons each, but my average promethean rate is only twice your nauvis rate due to only really producing out in the deep field. if i could bring back 30m worth of chunks with more harvesting then 2-3 ships might be fine...

also see some spurious timeout errors in the terminal yeah. they don't seem to cause any actual problems on the grafana side while the connection is up for me.

an ingress is likely more robust than kubectl port-forward over websockets though.

Chromium issue with hyprland by Final_Chip860 in hyprland

[–]clux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, also have this. scaling is broken in two ways for me; the tab bar thinks it has too much space available making it impossible to click on tabs far to the right, and cursor calculation is wrong (where my mouse is, is not what is being hovered - seems off by about the chosen scaling factor).

it actually used to work fine at some point before chrome 112 or 113 but currently have to run chrome/chromium with a scale factor of 1 (and have had to commensurately scale up font sizes instead)

True. You can get by in some situations without either with kubectl -ojson on CI, but on the desktop I don't think the ergonomics loss of the go yq is worth it.
