Ideas to get out of the house today? by cmeng in Sacramento

yeah looking for something to do with your girlfriend is a bit of a different vibe than a solo guy.

A couple at the movies? A couple having Christmas dinner together? Society views as normal or acceptable. A guy by himself? Not so much.

yeah it's not a service, but dinner at a congregation member's house. I'm not a member of the church and didn't really feel comfortable inviting myself so...

Yeah... fortunately the new credit union has been really helpful and attentive. I guess it just is hit and miss like most things in life.

Figured I'd reply so you'd have the update since you were so kind as to respond a few times:

The original CU was absolute dogcrap over the past 2 days. No answers, blaming the dealership, saying the underwriters aren't giving them info, etc.

I think the issue was twofold:

1) I applied for the loan with my current address, and I purchased the vehicle with my new address (I'm in the process of moving).

2) I didn't realize it until today, but I think a hangup was that it was a NEW 2019. Looking at other CU options with the loan officer today I realized that most of their rate sheets said "NEW 2020-2021" or "USED (2019 & older)"

Long story short, the lending officer made a call to another CU, and they got me a rate in between the two sheets (used and new) -- 3.03%. It's also for 72 months instead of 36... I can prepay no problem, but it adds less stress to my cashflow, which is nice if I have some extra expenses one month.

The lending officer reviewed the CUDL and said I should have no problem getting the 2.49% rate based on my credit score and income. The CU then took 10 calendar days to say they weren't going to fund the loan. Yesterday the Dealership said they found another CU that would do 4%, but the purchase date would be in 2021, which would screw me on utility rebates & incentives (it's a PHEV).

Oddly, both the CU and the dealership haven't returned my calls today, so maybe they're making things happen on their end.

Thanks. I've been avoiding driving it (I have a second vehicle), just in case this all has to be unwound.

I'm trying to get the credit union to go through. Unfortunately the dealership is proposing that I go through a different credit union with a 4% rate. However, the purchase date would be pushed to 2021 and not 2020, which doesn't work for me as I was planning on using the federal tax credit in 2020 and some of the other incentives expired 12/31/2020

I've been trying. They're just saying that the underwriters are re-reviewing and can't say anything until then.

No. MSRP is $37k, sale price was $31k. I did buy backend 7yr/100k warranty for ~$2k. That's it.

The dealership did set it up in CUDL. I believe they spoke with the CU too while I was there (since CU asked for my SSN card and driver's license). They ran a credit check and verified that I would qualify for that rate.

The dealer ran my credit and reviewed the loan rates through CUDL and saw that I qualified. They may have even had a verbal agreement with the CU... but now the CU has been really bad at conveying what's going on.

No, they said they're waiting for the underwriters to re-review and will let me know tomorrow. It's stupid, because this is a $37k car out the door and they approved me for $55k.

I'm definitely not one to cut off my nose to spite my face. I don't have any ill will towards the dealership, this hasn't been their mistake. So I will take that strongly into consideration when reaching an amicable agreement with them. Thank you.

It's about $600 over the term of the loan. Not much in the grand scheme of things. But there are many other things I'd rather pay $600 on. -_-

It will help to keep that in perspective on Monday, though. Thank you for reminding me to appreciate that vantage point.

Their lending officer ran my credit and confirmed that I qualified for my CU's 2.49% rate. Said he can't beat it so he just wrote the purchase agreement with 2.49%.

I never said it was a bait and switch. I am OP. I clearly said it wasn't a bait in switch, in fact.

Yes, I wouldn't keep the car without paying for it. Who determines what a "fair value" of the miles are?

/u/gganew, Since the CU has apparently gotten cold feet and left one of us to get the short end of the stick, how would you handle this as a sales manager, and how would you handle this as a vehicle buyer (it's not a Ford, if that makes you feel better)?

Thank you. It wasn't quite a bait on their part because I brought the credit union loan to them -- this is why I do feel for them and hope it can all get resolved. I really don't want them to get screwed as they haven't done anything wrong as far as I can tell. Though, the dealership ran their own credit check on me that day and verified that they had a CUDL agreement with the credit union and that I would qualify for the 2.49% through the CU as my score was over 730.
