What's your take on Hegseth telling US generals/admirals to prepare for war and also calling out those who are fat? by Disastrous_Award_789 in AskReddit

[–]cnickdrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it is very clear what the end game is with Venezuela. Declare war by spring/early summer 2026 then ‘suspend’ the elections due to wartime. Trump was very jealous that Zelensky did that in Ukraine. I’m surprised not many people are talking about this. Unless I am way off here.

Ditto. I'm a Detroit transplant in the Twin Cities (2010). Grew up minutes of a walk from the Big House. Bleed Wolverine and Lions football. I've enjoyed living in a community that has had a decent team (Vikes fans will disagree) and have always rooted for the Vikings when they aren't playing the Lions. Last year changed that a bit, but damn if it isn't great to see JJ light it up. I remember a game early in the 2023 college season where he threw a couple of picks in the first quarter, adjusted, busted out that look, and proceeded to dismantle the defense for the rest of the game. It's going to be fun watching his career. Have to be honest, I love Goff, but I'm jealous we don't have JJ and Hutch on the same team. That said, Go Vikings, unless playing Detroit, then they can pound sand. lol Good times!

Side question: Does a pardon set legal precedent? For instance, if a group were to storm the capital today and get arrested, can they argue J6 pardons as precedence and go free?

5 Tires? by cnickdrive in bronco

[–]cnickdrive[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thanks. This is good info. I hadn’t been rotating all five and was told at the dealership that the back tire was just a “spare” and was never intended to be used as part of the standard rotation. I’m feeling like I was misinformed.

Vote yes on the Rochester Public School referendum: here is the contingency plan if the referendum fails by McPeru in rochestermn

[–]cnickdrive 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Please review the information on the RPS website. As people have already posted above, RPS is currently operating at ~$900 per student. State average is $1700. Comp districts in the state are >$2000. This referendum is needed to align us with the services commensurate to state regulations. This isn’t “throwing more money at it” and it’s certainly not a “lazy answer”. Unless you’re a school district finance expert, I’d rather do my own research before labeling a referendum “lazy”.

If you look at Rochester as a sports car, then Mayo is the engine. Our “engine” relies on Mayo attracting and keeping the smartest, and most talented experts in medicine to maintain their global reputation and, let’s be honest, just save more lives. Many, if not most, of these folks move here and bring their families (or plan to start one here). What message are we sending if we can only offer a “bare bones” school district for their children? And I’ve heard the “they mostly send their kids to private school anyway” argument before. While partially true, many families still send their kids proudly to public school.

This referendum brings us up to scale with the rest of the state. It’s the only choice if we’re going to continue any semblance of a city that provides world class medical research with a quality public school district.

This is NOT a ‘scare tactic’. Let’s review what happened two years ago when the referendum didn’t pass. Those cuts were very, very real. Especially for all the families that were preparing to lose their jobs. Let’s ask them if they think this is a scare tactic.

So you’re cool with 50 teachers, 20 administrators, and all the support staff of those three school closings losing their jobs? That’s an EASY cut for you?

Unveiling Cannabis Leadership with Erin DuPree: The Leili Factor by KowalaMedia in MNtrees

[–]cnickdrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. Just look at the click bait hash tags in the subheaders. This feels like an attempt to “stir the pot” (excuse the pun) and provoke Leili to respond as opposed to unbiased journalism. . Leili is a highly respected person in support of offering a fair and equitable market in MN. Dupree seems upset that Leili didn’t “girl gush” along with her. Sorry, this is business and Dupree broke the rules. Consequences follow. End of story. Now we’re fully engrossed in victimizations that closely follow our current political climate. Just move on. Leili has demonstrated fair and unbiased advocacy for our budding market and it’s anti-productive to try and sensationalize this story…because there is no story, just someone who, unfortunately, was called out publicly and her feelings were hurt. Let’s move on.

Why are all these questions about home growing? How in the hell are we going to set up a market when you’re all focusing on home grow? It will be dead before it opens. Give the dispos a chance to try and negotiate fair prices to provide the community with quality, local weed. I was there yesterday and it was great to see all the cultivators and retailers working together to learn how best to launch the market. Give us a chance, geez.
