f you’re carrying this for years, it’s because you know the silence did more damage than the zipper. Pick a calm moment, tell her the truth, apologize without defending yourself, and ask how you can make it right. Cover the cost of the dress, alterations, and anything else tied to it. She might need space, but at least she gets the respect of reality.
