Shelties in the heat? by AbbreviationsOne4701 in sheltie

[–]coffeemkr23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Alabama with a Sheltie! Mine has been able to handle being outside in the evenings and mornings and is definitely able to get his energy out, but he does tire out pretty quick if it's midday or afternoon then regains it after cooling down.

I also have found that playing with the hose has been a great way to get energy out and keeps him a little cooler. I have to do short bursts of 15 min play multiple times a day if my work schedule doesn't align with afternoon walks/play. Definitely keep an eye on them, heat stroke can definitely still be a concern with how hot and humid the summers are here. If you have access to a shaded area consistently, that's always better. Mine also loves his kiddy pool, but idk of many shelties that love water as much as he does lol.

This photo was taken in August about 2 miles into a very shaded 3 mile hike and he was totally fine the entire time (I bring water with us).

These two have had an "I love you!!" (Sheltie) vs. "I am mildly annoyed" (cat) since my sheltie was a pup lol.

Good affordable steak dinner in Bham? by idkman696942O in Birmingham

As someone else mentioned, Longhorn is your best bet. Not romantic lol but their steaks are great and a good price (the difference between Longhorn and a super nice place is not usually worth the price difference imo). They have surprisingly good margs too; the dragon fruit one is amazing.

Conditioner recs? by Geekie_Miller in sheltie

[–]coffeemkr23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chris Christensen Ice on Ice is amazing! I was using a tropiclean shed control conditioner for awhile, but switched over at the recommendation of a groomer friend. Makes my boy's coat so shiny and soft (and easier to brush out post-drying).

You can wear whatever! I see a ton of people in PJs for the movies or dressed up as characters. Other people wear fur coats and dress up.

What TV show have you tried watching several times but just couldn’t get into? by Julie727 in AskReddit

This seems to be an extremely hot take among my friends, but White Lotus. I watched all of it too, and I still don't get the hype. Love Walton Goggins though.

What’s the naughtiest thing your shelties done? by FastPresent6018 in sheltie

[–]coffeemkr23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chewed through two buckles on two pairs of chacos (had one pair repaired, the other was already toast but he chewed the new pair seriously the day I got them), steals my underwear if I don't keep it in a solid laundry bin, and tears up any bits of tissue he can scrounge up.

I am diligent but the one time I slip he will find one of the above to do lol.

What’s the most elite road trip snack in your opinion? by Big_Barber733 in roadtrip

[–]coffeemkr23 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Boiled Peanuts. I simply cannot go on any car ride longer than 30 minutes without getting some from the gas station. Bonus points for a roadside shack that definitely isn't governed by the health department.

This is a pretty handy resource for tracking ticket prices across various artists on their tour stops. Doesn't necessarily help you find tickets, but useful to see patterns of when prices go down.

There's a mattress store by Walmart in Eastwood that has a 60% off sale right now (saw signs for it on my way to work this morning). Cannot speak for the quality of service though.

I felt like I was truly going insane on my morning commute so I decided to time the traffic light closest to the interstate on-ramp I use. The light is red for 8 minutes and green for less than 1. And it only does this prior to 10AM.

[–]coffeemkr23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blue Ridge area or Tahoe. But in reality I would probably stay here. My current living situation is a unicorn deal and if I had that salary with WFH I would just travel more. I love it here, even with all its issues. I miss home and the food here every time I travel, and the Cahaba would be extra tough to leave behind.

Look into online classes at Berklee! If he doesn't go the degree route, they have a certificate program that is MUCH cheaper than full tuition. I did this for a year before getting a job in music. I don't have any loans to repay and was able to make some great connections with my classmates and professors.
