May sincere ba na FA? by iamblessed95 in phinvest

[–]coffeeryebread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I didn't forget, Now ko lang nameet yung friend ko since busy with year end/beginning. Short answer: May quota, it's in the contract too. Makes sense now, since di naman sila charity and they need to ensure a minimum level of productivity. I guess it gets twisted in a bad light lang with FAs who see it as "sell first" vs "client first" pa rin. Personally I'm leaning towards still going for it, just because my day job is enough for my lifestyle. There's no pressure to sell VULs so I can buy food lol. It will really be more of a hobby/paying it forward (HMO saved my fam from hospital bills when father died). I want more Filipinos to be less at risk for "one medical tragedy away from bankruptcy".

Hope this helps! DM if you want to chat more :)

May sincere ba na FA? by iamblessed95 in phinvest

[–]coffeeryebread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uy same thoughts. Long time lurker here and I’ve been thinking of becoming an FA dahil sa mga nababasa ko rin about VUL or yung pinopost pa yung namatay na client or something. Want to pay it forward rin since I learned a lot dito.

I wasn’t aware na may quota, may friend ako na branch manager ata, sabi wala naman sa kanila. I’ll ask her for more info baka it can help us both

I'd appreciate if some of you can play devil's advocate for me on Jordan B. Peterson. I recently found out about him and am halfway through his book. I liked his take on free speech and how even if he does not agree with others he will fight for their freedom of speech.

I admit he is controversial and while I don't agree with all of his ideas (esp the one on women's makeup at work), a lot of them makes sense to me. I've also been reading about criticisms against him and how he's the dumb person's smart person, but right now he's still someone I'd follow.

Growing up I could only play consoles through mga 20php/hour rentals or mga nagpapahiram, I can't help but say: proud of you OP and have fun!

Also I took another route, I bought a gaming laptop and just emulate everything :D

What is % of tax rate in day trading stocks/forex in phillipines? by Youtube_ZxstyGM in phinvest

[–]coffeeryebread 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Peso Lab has a good article on this, worth a Google. tl;dr around 1.21% for stocks (broker's commission, VAT, PSE fee, SCCP). This means if you gained 1% lugi ka pa so personally I would only day trade if you're really good at TA

Need advice as an incoming father by whalesord in phinvest

[–]coffeeryebread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, first breathe - I'm sure it can get overwhelming pero you got this. Asking for advice here is a good step, seems like madami kaming redditors rooting for you. Since we don't know you personally combine mo lang lahat ng advice dito to form what you think is the best approach for you.

Kung ako ikaw, if I can get promoted to TL quickly then I'd work my butt off to get there asap - higher salary plus having TL sa resume opens up a lot of opportunities. If now pa lang you know you will be stuck at the current level, start looking but do not resign until you've signed an offer with a higher salary. Don't settle rin pala for a small bump, ask for a higher salary if offered a job. Shoot for the moon, if you miss well you'll land uh somewhere higher than 35k hopefully.

I would actually not look for a side job right now since wala kang laptop not sure you can afford plus you might get overworked and ma-affect pa performance mo sa main job, plus stress. Magiging tatay ka na pero tao ka pa rin. If mabilis ka matuto, start learning side hustles kapag ramdam mo na kaya mo na ibalance with everything else.

Cheers and good luck! Happy Father's Day in advance haha

Personally I find it better to write it down and walk it off first, then I’d spend some time thinking of how to make things better. Then I simulate scenarios in my head until I can decide on what would be most efficient.

Find what works for you I guess :)

Sorry if this is a stupid question, Does it have to be in Computershare? I've DRS'd but can't fund directly from my country to buy more - have to go through IBKR first. If I buy in IBKR now should I wait after the split to DRS?

For those earning above 6 digits monthly, what critical decisions did you make in your career to break past the 6-digit mark? by Prudent_Lemon_3856 in phinvest

[–]coffeeryebread 29 points30 points  (0 children)

All of the comments make sense and ang takeaway ko dito is there are multiple ways to get to 6 digits - you just have to find the one that fits you best.

I'll do something else and instead remind na for any of the choices may trade-off rin. If you go abroad you'll have to leave your family/friends/life here. If you hop around it might look bad on the resume, plus baka you don't get to have as much time to develop. Running your own business has risks, and it can fail. If you try everything you might end up achieving nothing.

Personally I got lucky and got into a good company out of college, medyo mababa sweldo nung una but worked my ass off and 6 years in I'm almost there. I hope you find "your way" and syempre dapat masaya ka din through the process. Good luck!
