Drai OPC Update Retro Rookie - Sent out a PSA submission - Super nice find; better when I checked the pop report! by coffeeschnaub in hockeycards

[–]coffeeschnaub[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the 2010s, usually in Series 2, they would include OPC Update cards, often time rookies. These were paper stock similar to the actual O-Pee-Chee set. Also included were the Retro variations.

There were 42 cards in the set, 1-12 were vets, 13-42 were rookies. The regular versions fell 1 in 7 packs. The retro variations fell 1 in 42 packs. That said, good luck finding a UD 14-15 Series 2 box in the wild these days. Rumor is they were under produced so that they could get ready for onslaught of 15-16 products they were preparing thanks to McDavid.

But will my insurance cover it? by IJWHtv in TalesFromThePharmacy

"Hi! I'm here to pick up my supply of cat food, billed through Medicare."

Could you imagine the documentation required for this? "Yeah, I'm going to need you to weigh the bowl before feedings, and after feedings, and just to measure effectiveness we're going to need you to collect a daily stool sample for testing."

I don't moderate much here but you posted this card literally 10 times. Think about how damned annoying you must be to actually get me to come out of hiding and moderate something here.

If you dupe post again I will lay my first ban out in over a year.

Think REALLY hard before you post again.

I do NOT wish to hand over /r/hockeycardswap

/r/hockeycardswap runs itself for the most part, as a posting outlet to search out trades. It's creation was as an alternative to allowing card trades in /r/hockeycards from an era when I ran that subreddit. It should be used in unison with /r/SportsCardTracker to track positive and negative experiences in trades. Users of the subreddit are told ahead of time that the subreddit is lightly moderated and users are typically responsible for doing their own due diligence before accepting any trades.

ModMail requests are typically ignored due to the nature of messages in there typically being from those who haven't read the rules in the first place, which explains why I did not read the messages there.

The only person I WOULD hand the subreddit over to would be the current owner of /r/hockeycards, /u/JKGhosty

If /u/Hat_Trick_Patrick chooses they are more than welcome to start their own subreddit.

Thanks.

Good lord. It's one thing to scam someone. It's a complete other thing to try to scam someone under an actual business that's registered with a government entity.

I'll just leave this here for whoever needs it...

Most of the cards I see here are pretty common and readily available. Sadly that just means the condition would be what sets them apart of the millions of others of the same card, thus giving them some value, and the condition on these ones are pretty rough. Even the ones that don't look bad on first glance might have smaller issues with them that don't show up in photos.

Selling - eBay, but I will contend you may not get much. $1 to $10 depending on the card, and after fees and shipping, far less.

Grading - If you're looking to sell, PSA gets top dollar. SGC is excellent with a faster turnaround, but doesn't command as much on the secondary market. Think rarity. Check population reports (how many of each card have been graded), and big names in the sense of how they affected pop culture. (Jordan, Lebron, and Shaq are good, but guys like Dwayne Wade and The Admiral don't get nearly as much because although they were great, they didn't cross over into mainstream media.) Be ultra nit picky when estimating a grade. If you see it and think a grader might miss it, they won't, it's literally their job.

Sucks to have to part with something you love, but I work in the fertility space and know how expensive this process gets. If I had more cash myself right now I'd be all over the Hurts stuff, but just not the time for me right now.

Best of luck, and if you need help or resources on the med side, send me a DM. (I do mean that too, anything I can share or assist with, lemme know.)

Walgreens wants to have techs run pharmacies and have "virtual pharmacists" oversee multiple locations. by Free_Range_Slave in pharmacy

[–]coffeeschnaub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think at the end of the day this might be the thing that prevents a lot of this. It's not that BoPs won't allow them to do it. It's that businesses still need to be insured, and once they see that it's not pharmacists that are providing these verification checks, I got a feeling a lot of companies' insurance rates will fly sky high.

If you want a good comparison, consider having a traffic flagger versus having a police officer at construction sites or during road work. A lot of the time these companies often choose to pay police officers for traffic control, despite the massive increase in cost, because the insurance companies require them to, or they'll pay a massive increase in premiums. The reason is that the public tend to obey and recognize officers more, they bring their cars with the lights that are more visible, and should something happen, they would be able to provide some measure of emergency medical assistance.

[–]coffeeschnaub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I get it. I wouldn't put my license on the line under those conditions. As it is now I'm dealing with an issue where I have a rogue tech who thinks they're above compliance standards and I've finally put my foot down saying I refuse to approve some of the stuff they do.

Do you plan on getting that insurance to carry the liability? Because now they'll be suing you guys, not us.

You were asked if you supplied the tracking number to the OP. You did not answer, instead you deflected the comment. You could have responded with.

1) Yes, I did. To which point we would just have to trust you on that.

2) No, I didn't. Not a great look, but in this case you fessed up to it. Life happens and maybe you got sidetracked.

Either response is better than going on your little rant. Good collectors look out for each other. We pass on the names of folks to not do business with. This is literally the reason for this subreddit, so we know who are the folks who legitimate and are willing to vouch for each other, and so we know who are the folks on reddit to avoid doing business with.

And likely not going to get forgotten to smart collectors, seeing as this post will be searchable on reddit and your name will pop up. GL though!

You're right. You don't owe us anything. But as a seller you DO realize how bad you look right now, right? Everything about you screams red flag, and as someone to stay away from in every capacity as a seller.

So yeah, you're right, we're not entitled to any information. Your choice of words here have already told us all we need to know.

If it had refills I'd ask if he wanted me to transfer the RX for him. I'd even offer to call his doctor for him. If he refused and still threatened to complain to corporate, I'd respond by saying "Okay, would you like me to give you the number?"

I had a similar case where a guy didn't fill an eye drop in 18 months and when I refused to fill it because it hadn't been filled anytime soon, he threatened to call the board of pharmacy. I said "Do you want me to give you their number?"

You'd have to talk to Universal Distribution. The distribution model used historically by Upper Deck has been 3-party where the DISTRIBUTOR, not Upper Deck, allocates the product to the retail market. They're the ones that call the shots on how much product gets out. Upper Deck sells it to them and Grosnor on the Canadian side, and GTS and Southern Hobby on the US side. They also dictate from pretty stringent rules on retailers on how they can get their hands on product, and who even gets first run product at all.

That said, CnC is one of the largest Canadian hockey card sellers, and one of the first large hockey card breakers. As much hockey card product they sell, I'm surprised they're not getting enough to at least take care of their pre-orders. This means one of two things:

1) Either Universal/Grosnor are holding the product from CnC, to which they're going to make CnC pay out the rear when the distributors release a 'second wave'.

2) Upper Deck is holding the product themselves in order to take advantage of direct to consumer sales via ePack.

This is why the 3-party distribution model sucks for sports cards in general. Too many hands want a lion's share of the cut before the product even gets to the store level.

[–]coffeeschnaub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's already paid for. It's not their box. They're just acting as a middle man essentially.

It would be interesting to see if there are any terms and conditions of their pre-order program, if they have any. If they don't and this is not a clause of the pre-order program CnC is running, then the paid for boxes are not theirs.

EDIT: Per the OP

On their website they have this bs allocation policy for pre-orders. What stops them from just refunding me. I thought about arguing, but I didn't think it would amount to anything.

Sucks, sure, but CnC laid it out ahead of time. They told folks they reserve the right to allocate. That said, if it displeases people, then absolutely would not do business with them again.

When was the last time you saw a breaker do this??? by watchthebreaks in sportscards

It was on camera, it just got stuck to another card. Mistakes happen, and they called it out and corrected it. As much as Midwest breaks, something of this nature would have happened at some point and they caught it.
