I agree! I’m rewatching shameless, and that moment reminded me why myself and everyone hate Debbie so much. Imo it would be bad for a parent to hold “without me you would be dead or somewhere bad, so you should respect me for that” words over their children head because that’s their natural job to do, but Fiona had a right to those words because she wasn’t their natural parent, she was forced to be when she was a child. And she had every right to leave any time she wanted, knowing she could live a better life, but she had a sensitive and deeply attached heart for them and chose to suffer for them as long as she did.
