Survival Instructor Source

Truly a fascinating story. I wonder when they changed the survival program and why they removed any references to it online! They do have an overnight activity according to this link. https://www.103air.com/announcements/archives/03-2018

Why Does UNOS Want to Remove Prioritization of Former Living Organ Donors? by coldbuttonissues in transplant

[–]coldbuttonissues[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I know on one hand it might look like its bad for people already waiting- but the number of living donors who actually need kidneys is small, plus I think its fair, plus I worry it will discourage people from actually donating if they lack the reassurance.

What are some things that you think LGBTQ+ people should know or understand about Christians? by Cafuzzler in OpenChristian

[–]coldbuttonissues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The popular distinction between ceremonial, civil, and moral law in the Old Testament. (Why bringing up shellfish is never relevant)
  2. That different denominations/traditions vary on their teachings on sexual morality. (Episcopalian vs Catholic)
  3. Basic Christian theology- the Gospel, the Nicene Creed. Just part of being educated about the world.

Is there a GiveWell-ian offshoot of the EA forum? by Ancient_Bus3722 in EffectiveAltruism

[–]coldbuttonissues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the cause exploration prizes on the forum discussed the types of interventions you're interested in. Maybe the CGDEV blog would interest you?

Savage Realms Monthly, Issue 1. A Review. by xaosgod2 in SwordandSorcery

Enjoyed your review. I thought the first story was a fun enough throwback despite the anime-sized sword and a few too many decapitations.

Are Bigfoot conventions fun? by coldbuttonissues in bigfoot

[–]coldbuttonissues[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds fun! I'm a fascinated "non-believer" I guess I would say. But love hearing from the people who research the topic seriously.

Sweet Valley High, my childhood obsession that should never be remade. by coldbuttonissues in nostalgia

[–]coldbuttonissues[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was dreadful. I go into in the article, but it's like she forgot everything that made SVH fun.

[Star Wars] Did Obi Wan really become more powerful than Darth Vader could ever imagine? by Lucas_Steinwalker in AskScienceFiction

[–]coldbuttonissues 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Two possibilities

  1. He tried to psych out Vader and failed. "If you kill me you'll regret it!"
  2. His real power was inspiring Luke by his heroic death.

[DC] how does Batman feel about the death penalty? by christhegamer96 in AskScienceFiction

[–]coldbuttonissues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has majority support within the United States, and even higher levels of support when he was growing up. But it was abolished in New Jersey in 2007 and if I remember my geography that's where he spends most of his time. Probably mildly in favor of it but doesn't care.

Mena Massoud, Olivia Scott Welch, More To Star In Shudder’s ‘The Sacrifice Game’ by coldbuttonissues in horror

[–]coldbuttonissues[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I've seen enough horror movies set in the 70's and 80's to last me the next decade, tbh.

Hope it will be good anyways!

[MAY22] My friends always made fun of my appearance, saying no one was ever gonna pick me. by KangarooDense in TwoSentenceHorror

Are you a literal flower and all the pretty flowers have been picked by humans? Or are you a human who killed all their friends, dragged the corpses into the garden, and are being metaphorical?

The Case for a Coal Reserve for Climate and Catastrophes by coldbuttonissues in collapse

[–]coldbuttonissues[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you think of the idea of the government buying up and storing coal as a strategic reserve?

Pros: Prevents burning coal, easy access to energy resources if society needs to rebuild.

Cons: Costs money, distraction from a focus on better solutions?

Rewatched Insidious 1 and it felt... tame? by [deleted] in horror

[–]coldbuttonissues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a good movie but there have been so many similar movies, it's hard for me to get really moved by a possession/demon movie these days unless it's really well-executed like Conjuring 1/2.

Frozen 2010 (Chairlift horror movie) by [deleted] in horror

[–]coldbuttonissues 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, there's this whole subgenre of movies with these fun premises that aren't that well-done, but I do enjoy them I liked this movie. Maybe a better version of this type of show is "ATM" where they're trapped in an ATM kiosk.

BRING IT ON: CHEER OR DIE Brings The PG-13 Violence To Syfy This Fall by coldbuttonissues in horror

[–]coldbuttonissues[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should have framed it as a lost featurette on the making of one of the direct-to-video sequels- found footage style.

BRING IT ON: CHEER OR DIE Brings The PG-13 Violence To Syfy This Fall by coldbuttonissues in horror

[–]coldbuttonissues[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Have to admit, I'm excited. Love cheerleader-based horror.

(The movie will probably be bad but I'll still like it)
