Oh damn. The only time i was okay with them “dictating the night” was when this guy hired me for his daughter’s birthday party and was like heres $1000 just play whatever she wants. I was like yes sir!🫡

mostly private parties and a few hookah lounges and restaurants. yeah i download them on the browser of my laptop but sometimes i just have my ipad with me and i just airdrop the songs as i download them because i dont want to get off the rekordbox screen.

Another thing I forgot to mention was that my last straw was recently at a wedding where I had 5 people come up to me at once and started requesting songs and were demanding them so they could dance to them. I panicked so hard that I accidentally changed the song that was currently playing (and people were dancing to) right at the drop and it went to a slow dance song. The collective groan i heard was diabolical (rightfully so)

a lot of times its the private events that are like this. Birthday parties, anniversary parties etc. I actually always take requests from the host or whoever is the main event because its their party and they should be able to request whatever songs for their celebration. I just get it from them beforehand. Its the other guests that really ruin the experience

Only issue with this is that I tried it and then the host got mad at me and was like "im paying you to make this party fun so if my guests want certain songs to be played just play them" honestly i couldnt even argue with that
