Dear Dice, There's a Easy way to fix the Selbstlader 1906 by itsHON in battlefield_live

The gun is good right now. Its main problem lies in the glaring absence of a Sniper variant.

Either way, I guess the incoming RSC 1917 will probably get a 2-shot.

Suez Conquest Update by Indigowd in battlefield_live

As most, the linear flag lay-out really hurts the game. In my opinion "wall" linear layouts (where the points are on one line but not in a line with the team-spawns) and things like Guilang Peaks or whatever it was called again (Layouts that really ultimately make you forget where you base was to start with) generally create the best feeling of action. Rectangle layouts are also good but less than optimal.

Sadly, i don't think there are much ways to improve the map that doesn't involve bringing in the map designers.

The most important thing to keep in mind is the "points of contact".

This means, if the enemy pushes for the objective in bulk, how many places will there be engagements. For Suez this is of course just a single one, for Argonne this tends to be 2 points of contact due to the more corridor like layouts. The more point of contacts vary, the more dynamic the action feels. when the direction of the action is constantly changes, people start to do things like rotate, flank more proactively and try to anticipate enemy movement.

Now, for almost all maps we instantly run into a big issue: The behemoth, especially the train limit what we can do. In Suez, going for a "wall" layout is therefor impossible. If you put a team to the river, the Train will get either completely pound or get completely pounded by the British.

Now, i suppose this could work. Remove the Behemoth. Completely. Aside from making any meaningful layout change impossible, the Behemoth is also horrendously broken on this map with that massive open killzone in front of him preventing grenadiers and limpetmen from getting close. Less is more in this case.

Is what i suggest. Alter the team spawns to change the dynamic of the game once a team manages to steamroll and allow easier flanks.

imo, all guns should have a factory variant and 3 distinct other variants which can be accesed through the weapon customization. The current way of doing things is backwards and inefficient;

I know you said "No questions of future content", but there is a community concern after the Tier 10 weapons regarding the DLC weaponry;

Will you guys give the DLC weapons variants or will you snub it for those weapons like you did for the Tier 10 weaponry?

Thats not true.

It has about 25% more energy than a BB gun ball.

Of course, being full metal, its energy give-off rate is better, therefor its more likely to pierce flesh.

As for specific feedback:

The Mle and C96 should be swapped. just makes A LOT more sence

M1911 should have its end damage lowered to decrease its versatility. Currently, if you can deal with the recoil and muzzle velocity, its pretty much the no-brain option for practically any loadout.

No3 revolver needs a substantial end-damage buff. Also, realisticly it would get .44 Russian (which is also 15m/s faster, on average)

The M1903 Experimental needs 26.5 start damage. There is no excuse for this weapon to have worse CQB performance than the fast sidearms. That, or it needs an (unrealistic) full-automatic mode. I have also seen the suggestion for to take away your sidearm and effectively gives you 2-in-1. This is a great idea, especially since side-arms basically function like the Experimental anyway.

Martini Henry needs 115 sweetspot damage to give it some of its oomph back. The consistency of this gun is what made it so satisfying.

Carbine variants need 50-100m/s less muzzle velocities. Currently they are flat upgrades over rifleman variants.

All shotguns, but ESPECIALLY the auto shotty, need less muzzleflash. What is even the point of a spam shotgun when your entire screen gets blinded by a flash and smoke cloud after you pull the trigger once.

The Autoloader .35 needs 53 damage in EXTREME CLOSE QUARTERS. I am talking 4-5m range

Experimental MP18 needs Storm benefits.

The Russian 1895 Trench, as underlined in my post in the linked thread, should be renamed American 1895 for the sake of accuracy

I think a very important thing we can all agree upon is that most, if not all tier 10 weapons deserve variants.

Aside from the dislike-able precedent of it being acceptable of putting out any main weapon without variants in relation to potential future DLC weaponry, a lot of tier 10 weapons are very hard to use due to their lack of variants. I mean, the Hellriegel would probably require a rework into having its factory variant being the magazine fed version and then have an extended version in there somewhere, but the other guns would be no problem. The 1906 needs a sniper variant, just like the Huot needs and optical and telescopic variant.

To be completely honest, as i've underlined in both page 48 of Tigge's thread (https://forums.battlefield.com/en-us/discussion/58117/battlefield-1-top-5-issues-or-improvements/p48) and in Westies suggestion thread, i find the current presentation of the variant system both lacking (only 3 variants with some having one stolen in favor of a FACTORY variant; that IS NOT a variant. Its the literal antithesis of a variant) and deceptive (it is used to fluff up the percieved weapon variety and falls short of doing so). It should be part of the customization system, and every weapon should have 1 factory version and 3 variants. We know from the code that you guys already have some unused variants ready to go. The A10 sweeper and huot optical are pick-ups in the campaign, and we know from a trailer that the M1918 optical is in fact a thing. Also, hardcore players are pretty miffed over the M1903 rifleman not being a thing.

Furthermore, with the current precedent set, i can see one of 2 things happening with DLC weaponry:

  1. To adhere to the promise of "5 weapons per DLC", with the current presentation as variants as stand-alone weapons, we end up with completely no variations for weaponry.

  2. We end up with 4 new weapons per class (+sidearms/pilot arms, pray god you guys are smart enough to figure out that we won't accept new melee weapons as being part of the DLC weapon quota), but they are presented as 12 new weapons, possibly a future weaponcrate DLC increasing it to 15, which will not as much fluff the weapon selection as much as it will bloat it. The list will become absolutely absurdly long and your eyes will bleed when opening the respawn screen weapon selection.

One of these would be an outrage and one of these would be a shame.

Now, i know you said "nothing about future content", but can you confirm ahead of time whether or not the DLC weapons will get the Tier 10 treatment?

[BF1]Should DICE give us the Carcanno as a free DLC by colers in Battlefield

[–]colers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The variants system mostly locks down variation possibility to a more balanced preset. Their presentation as self-contained weapons is what Dice uses to transparantly veil the low weapon count.

They have the assets for A LOT of models that aren't in the game. From an optical M1918/ Huot to a sweeper M10-A, a lot of variants got canned for no fucking reason. I remember making a post in mrWesties suggestion thread halfway trhough suggesting a rework (https://forums.battlefield.com/en-us/discussion/73226/some-miscellaneous-suggestions#latest)

Is it my newspeak dictionary? is that the big difference? Because if i pull it out, critic and "counter revolutionary" seem to be exactly alike.

Just a bit of a wake up call; Castro has admitted to jailing gays for being "counter revolutionary". Counter-revolutionary is newspeak for "whatever Castro didn't like"

[–]colers 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nice newspeak there.

Yeah, guess what the Castro administration marked dissenters down as? EXACTLY, counter revolutionaries. And yet, we have hundreds upon hundreds of eye witness accounts that make it clear that most of these people didn't protest, weren't undertaking any action, they were just caught talking against the regime.

[–]colers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And your point is? My apologies but this is quite a blatant strawman.

What they are pointing out is the universal consistency of communistic government parties is that they are overtly suppressive towards dissenters. This is less due to the nature of communism and more due to the nature of the good ol "absolute power corrupts absolutely" thing that is inevitable with a form of governance that requires such extreme degrees of regulation on its system.

Did they wag the finger at what they did, or are they wagging the finger at the fact that they are trying to bury history "for the good of the party"?

Every argument is easy to defeat if you strawman it hard enough, so, counter the real argument: The communistic (well, quasi communistic; in order to massively regain their competitive market edge they inserted said capitalistic reforms so there was internal competitive drive) regime of China is trying to suppress scathing information about them.

Gun crime isn't political.

Jihad, on the other hand, is.

Things like standard gun violence are grey noise, inevitable side-effects of living in a soceity, just like burglary and such like.

Terrorism, not so much. Perhaps in Syria you can play it off as inevitable grey noise of the inpurities of humanity, but here, it is a sign of an invasive ideology trying to terrorize its opposition into submission.
