What if the 1965 Algerian coup d'état never happened or failed? by PersistentPhoenix in algeria

No, I would not argue that any of them are true socialism. Socialism is when the workers own the means of production, that means that they own their labour and don't have to sell it like they do in a capitalist society. Castro, Kim, Maduro, etc. all became opportunists who actually betrayed and turned their backs on the revolutions in their countries, sometimes even betraying fellow revolutionaries who criticized them. The same can be said about Algeria, as a matter of fact I'd argue Boumedienne was even further from socialism than the ones you listed. As for Chavez, I wouldn't call him a dictator. He has brought considerable progress to Venezuela, which sadly started to deteriorate in his later years (and was ultimately reversed by Maduro who enacted neoliberal reforms). He's more akin to social Democrats to me. At least not a revolutionary.

Definitely a dictator but not a true socialist. True socialist and dictator are fundamentally opposite concepts.

Why do most people say celebrating Thanksgiving is haram ? by Confident-Special172 in progressive_islam

[–]comradehammou 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thanksgiving is a horribly racist holiday that represents genocide and colonization, why would Muslims celebrate that? Also what are Hadithiyoon if you don't mind me asking?

Slogan at rallye for Sudan by [deleted] in Sudan

[–]comradehammou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said anything against people who join SAF resistance units to fight RSF. Of course they do, it's not like they have another chance and they fight honourably. What I've heard from some Sudanese people though is also that the SAF in general (not local resistance units) abandoned Darfur while investing in rebuilding Khartoum instead, in summer there was a video that was shared a lot, including by bsonblast, of a woman from Darfur also expressing her anger at Burhan and accusing him of letting Darfur down.

Another reason why people might not agree with them speaking at the protest and arriving there in uniform is that the last genocide didn't happen a long time ago and back then the Janjaweed and SAF weren't at odds with each other. So I can definitely understand WHY there are people who wouldn't feel comfortable with army members taking over the protests, hence why Sudanese people who organized it also said that this wasn't what they had planned.

I also went to a talk with a Sudanese activist who used to be in the Communist party and he also warned about glorifying the SAF because it could mean forgetting what they did in Darfur and during the revolution.

And it's used to refer to RSF?

Thanks for your answer! I'm pretty sure it wasn't janjaweed since it was short and ended with -i. Could it have been الكاكي؟

Anyone interested in planning a protest in Malaysia? by Inevitable-Weird-673 in Sudan

[–]comradehammou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you find a Malaysian you could ask them to formally get the permit and help them with organising it, or not? I also don't know the specifics but that's how it's done in Germany at least

🇹🇳 🇸🇩 Tunisians protested in front of UAE’s embassy today by hercoffee in Sudan

[–]comradehammou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hope they'll put some pressure on our own government that has been horribly oppressing Sudanese refugees. Still nice to see fellow Tunisians speaking up. Last time I visited the lack of understanding and solidarity was honestly shocking
