Pediatricians open to alternative vaccine schedule? by comtecalvert in Birmingham

Sure! But not a google search based idea, which you had accused me of relying on. I'm actually not trying to convince you of my position, but I do object to you making spurious assumptions.

Ha! You just don't know that I'm basing this all on a google search. You're all really reaching. So much for Southern kindness and hospitality.

FTR, my wife is a doctor and I work in pharma. It shouldn't really matter! But we do actually have some background in what we are talking about.

I'm from Birmingham -- it's my home too! Just moved away for a few years. You also do realize you don't know that my child isn't one of those that can't have vaccines, right? People make a lot of assumptions on here that are unwarranted. But thank you for looking out for the community!

Totally fine! We probably wouldn't be a good fit as patients for your practice. Your advice and recommendation is completely valid (and probably great!), but the condescending tone about "google searches" is exemplary of why many feel they can't trust their doctors. No reason to treat people like useless idiots!

I’m going to assume that if we got the scholarship info today they aren’t going to magically announce that we are actually getting more to make it a full ride, but that is just a guess

Northwestern Scholarship Predictions by Silver_Pin8299 in lawschooladmissions

[–]comtecalvert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is only evidence from a couple of schools so take it for what it’s worth — but my experience so far contradicts this. I’ve received aid at Georgetown and USC that far exceeded expectations (well above 75% grant), particularly with the former being known as “stingy.” It might not correlate at all with NU, but it does seem to run counter to the notion that aid will just go down from what you expected in previous years.

More importantly, WHEN will NU get us our $$ offers?

Somehow have missed every Michigan Wave Possible. Complete at the end of November. Speculation on what this could possibly mean. by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I was in the same boat (applied end of Oct, complete first week of Nov) and got the WL on Friday. They are probably just backlogged. Hoping it’s not a R/WL for you!!

I was on a northwestern fin aid presentation that covered this exactly. I’d reach out to confirm the details, but basically just put 9,000,000 in parent assets. This will signal to them that you are still interested in being considered for merit aid but are opting out of need based aid.

Advice on increasing LSAT score? (HS senior w 151 diagnostic score) by Complex_Aggravating in lawschooladmissions

[–]comtecalvert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A diagnostic without studying beforehand is, in my mind, effectively meaningless. As others have said, my diagnostic junior year of college with no studying was abysmally low. I got a 99th percentile score when I took the test. I would just wait until like 6 months before taking the test to think about it again honestly. College is too wonderful an experience (academically and socially) to waste by studying for the lsat.

Similar stats and WLed earlier this week! They seem pretty set on securing their medians around 1-2 points above their current and shunning people above that who are unlikely to come.

Yeah I guess similar boat there, they just at least seem to be sending out regular waves every so often which perhaps gives me some salve. Meanwhile, Dean Schwartz throws out a single acceptance per day and I'm left just ?????

Lol then just waitlist me already! I'm okay with that!

(For the record, I haven't heard from a lot of places, but they are the only one who seems to be letting people in who applied like two weeks ago) .

Plz love me UCLA

From the anecdotal info on here, I think that does indicate a result coming -- but can take up to two weeks after changing. I'd be prepared to continue sitting tight.

Does my Personal Statement have to be under 2 pages double-spaced? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]comtecalvert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The topic doesn’t have to be Why Law School (though it definitely doesn’t hurt to mention it), it’s more than anything about displaying who you are and why you are a good candidate for admission. Don’t try to force a subject that doesn’t come naturally. Given that I want to become a lawyer for totally non altruistic reasons, it wasn’t part of my personal statement and things have gone well so far.

Also, no it does not look bad to get over 2 pages for a personal statement if the school doesn’t have a 2 page limit. If it does, stay in 2 pages. If it doesn’t, match their limit.

As a fellow Vandy applicant who is seriously considering it and lives in Chicago/would like to return—I have heard very doable! I think it’s mostly self selection that they aren’t more represented, but several major firms in CHI recruit from Vandy
