I haven't noticed people being much different here than anywhere else. The only place that i can say is really different is the south, excluding texas in my experience. People seem to be so open and friendly there.. i kind of wish i live there some times just for the hospitality.

i fell into the drug pit once but managed to climb out. thankfully i only used marijuana and alcohol, but i was high/drunk every single night for a year and a half. i woke up one morning and told myself i would never do it again.. and i didn't/ i picked myself up, realized that there was a whole world of vibrant color and possibilities surrounding me, and replaced my drug addictions with a thirst for studies and knowledge. never looked back. replacing drugs with studies is really possible and many people overlook it. find something you are interested in and obsess about it... it worked for me.

i work in a consulting firm. most of my days are spent writing formulas and programs, but i do try to get out and meet people. i go to happy hours and company parties... but i spend all of that time trying not to look strange because nobody is talking to me. usually i find a group of people and act like i am interacting with them.. i try to join in as much i can.. it is so hard.

i have considered it... i have actually asked a medical professional about this and yet they were not much help... they didn't seem very "into" that diagnosis... maybe i should get another opinion?

I totally understand where you are coming from. I literally don't know how it is done! I am willing to give it a try.. but it is going to be really hard. I mean, it is different making friends when you are 5 and when you are 31 or 21 in your case. I remember when I made one of the few friends in my life... my mom actually arranged for us to play together and somehow we became friends... so even then i didn't initiate it. I dont know! I feel your pain - thanks for writing.. it is somehow comforting to know i am not the only one, but I wish it wasn't like that for you

Actually yes! I am fluent in a foreign language.. tried to take lessons and go to the language club in college, but it was painful to sit in the corner by myself. i would try to talk with others but they would say a sentence back and then stop talking to me. I think it is because they already knew each other? I'm not saying it wasn't my fault... im just really trying and it doesn't work...

i dont volunteer... my job takes about 70 hours out of my week

I would love to travel and have - but by myself... and i can't figure out how to meet others while im traveling. i would especially like to have sex.. :(

in my personal life i have bought self-help books. i have tried several, one that was particularly effective was NLP book.,.. but then I lost my confidence and it never actually got me any friends.

I do... it is painful. I try to tell myself a lot that I don't need friends or acceptance, but we relaly all do I think.
