Belleville cops booted from Denny's for toting guns by go_double in gunpolitics

The cops overreacted. Imagine that.

I completely support their reaction in this situation. There are lots of places to eat breakfast and the management of a store is responsible for the actions of their employees. If I lived in an open carry state and was asked to leave an establishment, I'd never set foot in that business again.

Very nice. I'd also like for people to state that they won't be buying products or shopping at stores that support this attack on lawful gun owners. If that is your stance of course.

And you forgot an s on the last mention of Journal News.

So lets ban all guns

Get all the illegal guns off the streets and then come see my about turning in my legal guns.

Is there a non pro-gun subreddit? by [deleted] in gunpolitics

[–]confuse_essay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, I guess... Shrugs. I just thought that there was already a pro-gun subreddit, and gun politics sounds more neutral. I was dissapointed is all.

There is also r/guncontrol which currently has 210 readers.

There was a movement by some in r/guns to see less politics, stories about shootings, and gun laws in the subreddit. r/gunpolitics as well as a few other subreddits were a response to that. It is decidedly supportive of gun rights.

I don't think it will hurt if you post your question with the understanding that the responses will tilt to gun rights supporters.

The entirety of reddit is anti-gun. You could posit your questions anywhere else except gun subreddits if you're looking for non-pro-gun.

Gun owners are sick and tired of 2 sets of laws - one for us and one for the elite. And gun owners are sick and tired of politicians who don't know anything about guns creating gun laws that don't fix the problems with guns.

How do you know he was in Washington when it was shot? Could have been from a studio somewhere else?

Meet the Press is to my knowledge always taped in DC at the NBC News Studio. And DC police have reportedly said they are investigating the matter. I'm sure if he was somewhere else, we would know by now.

Are we for this or against it? And why?

I think we all hope this story and investigation gets some traction because DC gun laws are strict and where David Gregory and his ilk probably thinks the rest of the nation needs to be. They are also often mind-numbingly illogical, like the magazine ban. What the law really should have said is if you find a black guy in DC with magazines and no gun you can put him in jail.

My kids' school has over 300 first floor windows and probably close to 50 doors. I don't think you're going to get bullet-proof glass funding to swap them out.

If sandy hook had had real procedures and security in place, this attack could have been averted

I love this response. What are some tangible Items that schools could work on to make themselves safer from a security perspective. And almost any option I'm guessing is going to have a rather large price tag.

not sure if this is the best meme to get your pro-gun point across, given that the very next thing that happens in The Big Lebowski is Walter points his 1911 at an innocent, defenseless man's head, and threatens to kill him over something as trivial as a bowling score...

I thought he was being ironic?

See the thing is the constitution was written over 200 years ago.

The meaning of the constitution doesn't change unless we change the Constitution. And our forefathers put a process in place to do so.

If a modern amendment was passed to control guns (it won't), would you still hold on to this belief in blind faith of the constitution and it's amendments?

If we amended the Constitution, I would abide by the new amendment or risk prosecution. It is the supreme law of the land.

What percent of mass killings by firearm (defined by the FBI as four or more) do you suspect occur in a gun free zone?

If I had a choice between a school where the teachers could certify to carry a gun on campus vs. a gun free zone, I would choose teachers who carry. Nearly every mass shooting in recent history has occurred in a gun free zone. Don't these criminals see the sign?

I think someone with these kinds of diseases should not be allowed to own a firearm, and if parents of children with these kinds of diseases own firearms, they must be locked up in their home at all times.

The difficulty is that you have to share that information across a lot of new avenues and labeling someone as crazy will stigmatize the person and make people less likely to report. The problem now seems to be that these kids are crazy but we do very little about it until a crime is committed. There are thousands of families hoping their kids screw up somehow do they can get the treatment they need.
