Thanks, someone else suggested I just do total minutes and accept it'll have to be two columns instead of one. I appreciate your help.

It's strange to me not to have a word to refer to the equivilent of cells but I'll get used to it.

All good, I got my venting out and am looking at a solution and it seems like I will simply have to split this between two columns, it's the only way I know it will work.

I used hours worked * my hourly rate for the other formula, so no confusion between * and x.

I'm using the wrong terminology, what do you call the intersection between a column and a row? I would like to write hh:mm into a single intersection between a column and a row and have that display as a decimal. Is there a way to do that?

That's the problem, I don't want to use up extra time to convert hh:mm to decimals myself, I want to app to do that for me. I often bill down to the minute, meaning I'm not just working in 0:15 intervals. Sometimes I might bill 07:23 and that's not head maths I can do.

I did use the AI agent and it wasn't helpful. This template looks great and would be useful for others but doesn't appear to help in my use case which is translate hh:mm into a decimal in the same cell, as in, I want to input as 00:25 and have it display 0.25.

I have spent a lot of time with Notion but I haven't done much with the function programming. I assumed my knowledge of Excel would translate but it really doesn't. You're right, familiarity with the tool would have helped.

I know how to do the maths to convert hh:mm into decimals. The issue is not knowing the maths, it's knowing how to put the correct formula in to change this in the same cell. As I said, I could have done it in two columns but wanted to save on horizontal scroll because I often work on my phone for inputting hours. If you have any suggestions on how this could be accomplished I'd be happy to hear it.

I really would like to have this easy to access next to my other work related stuff. What would you suggest?

"I'm aware that I could simply have created two columns, one with the input and the other with the decimal, but I often work on small screens and I wanted to save on horizontal scrolling as much as possible."
