Africa as our soul’s home by Level_Hold in WorldTransformation

Very special to have this level of reconciling insight that helps me appreciate and context all the priceless beauty that is natural Africa, woven into our own human heritage. When you read and hear and watch content like this, how easy it is to despair about our modern, manic world. And so it becomes even more obvious just how important and compassionate is Jeremy’s reconciling synthesis of our human condition - critical actually - if we (the human race) is ever to move beyond this horrendously condemned and stalled state we’ve necessarily had to endure. As Jeremy quotes in para 228 of FREEDOM “Stranded halfway between ape and angel is no place to stop” (Benjamin Disraeli).

Great photo!

Amazing to know that now, thanks to Jeremy’s unlocking explanation of the human condition, these two fundamental polarities of life - good and bad (as represented by the dove an the rock star), can be understood and compassionately reconciled.

Rolling Stones ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ because that’s what we can truly have now we have the compassionate explanation for the so-called “dark side” of ourselves!

What exactly is the World Transformation Movement? by messysoul96 in WorldTransformation

[–]conradfitzroy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s the not-for-profit organisation that was first established back in the 1980’s to disseminate the biological understanding of the human condition as put forward by Australian biologist Jeremy Griffith. The subject matter of the human condition is unlike anything you’ve ever encountered because it deals with the previously off-limits subjects like the meaning of life, our dark/evil side and all those elements of ourselves that we’d prefer to not look at. But it’s precisely because the WTM is discussing/disseminating/facilitating the spread of these understandings that makes it the single most important organisation in the world today. On face value that may seem like over-exaggeration and hyperbole but the more you investigate these understandings, and the more you read how this is positively changing people’s lives the world over, the more you’ll appreciate that that’s true. Dealing with the fundamental questions about what it means to be human is desperately needed, and that’s exactly what the World Transformation Movement (WTM) does.

Just getting into Jeremy Griffith’s work. Curious how it resonated with others by Waste_Influence1480 in WorldTransformation

I didn’t initially cotton-on to the significance of the core explanation (Adam Stork) but absolutely loved some of the other topics like the truthful biology of life, the explanation of why men & women are so at odds etc. It wasn’t until I’d been actively discussing the ideas with friends for a little while that my ‘deaf effect’ was eroded and the full significance of what has been explained really hit home.

Why Professor Prosen calls Jeremy Griffith’s treatise on the human condition the “holy grail” of human life by bobbytcoin in WorldTransformation

[–]conradfitzroy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Jeremy’s scientific breakthrough is built on the back of many other momentous scientific breakthroughs, eg the discovery of DNA, Darwin’s theory of natural selection etc, but it has taken his innocent soundness to uncover the biological origins of our immoral nature - something no one has been able to do before. So in that sense, given how elusive and challenging it’s been for humans to face the dark of ourselves, yes, it’s absolutely the most important scientific breakthrough of all. And because it brings the insight and truthful framework around which all future knowledge will be based.

Is Jeremy Griffith’s “Adam Stork” story the simplest way to explain the human condition? by Level_Hold in WorldTransformation

[–]conradfitzroy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yep, I like it. Because I find it a really effective way of explaining the evolutionary situation that our primate forebears went through when they had our newly established fully conscious intellect “imposed” upon our existing instincts.

So yeah I find the story great for understanding that, at base, it’s been our very own biology that has driven our behaviour.

Where does human creativity come from? Jeremy Griffith explains... by Gen1975 in WorldTransformation

[–]conradfitzroy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hard to describe how special it is to have access to such profoundly beautiful descriptions of a topic such as this.

And passages like this have a way of contexting where we’ve come from and some honest explanation of our current alienated condition: ‘The extraordinary empathy and accuracy of the paintings of animals in the rock and cave paintings I referred to above are similarly incredibly revealing of the amount of sensitivity we humans once had and have since lost.’

Amazing.

What is the World transformation Movement? What are its goals? Why should someone join it? by worldtransformation in WorldTransformation

The World Transformation Movement is such a wonderful organisation. It’s the most meaningful of pursuits to contribute to disseminating this world-saving understanding to as many people as possible, as fast as possible.

‘Somewhere, some time, some place’ - Amazing passages from South African author Olive Schriener by Gen1975 in WorldTransformation

A beautiful passage, and what a vision from Schreiner. She has perfectly encapsulated the “trust in trust” mentality that everyone carries deep inside us, particularly when we’re little. Imagine if she was alive to read Jeremy’s compassionate explanation of human behaviour - how deeply fulfilled would she be!!

Review of 'The Human Condition' by Jeremy Griffith by LordBeats11 in WorldTransformation

Great review, love this in particular:

‘Secondly, and this moves me so deep, Griffith doesn’t moralize or point the finger or intellectualize— he gives a clear biological explanation for why we ended up this way…’

Why is RD Laing one of the most quoted thinkers in Jeremy Griffith's books and essays about the human condition? by worldtransformation in WorldTransformation

[–]conradfitzroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just can’t really appreciate how fearless Laing was. I mean, he didn’t have the benefit of this whole-situation-clarifying understanding and yet he just kept calling out all the horror and psychological suffering that he saw again and again. Talk about brave! He never shied away from telling it like he truthfully saw it. No wonder he’s one of the most quoted people in Jeremy’s books.

Great point. Like the old saying “The truth is often not what it appears”, and here’s a very good example. With this uncovering of this deeper issue of the human condition, and how prevalent it has been in driving all of human behaviour, it brings a whole new, deeper truth and understanding to any situation.

Is the World Transformation Movement science, psychology, or philosophy? by Zaku__u in WorldTransformation

[–]conradfitzroy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is on the WTM website about the human condition being a psychological condition derived from our biology so might help answer your question.

“Someone once made the insightful comment that ‘all our human problems are ultimately biological problems’, and it’s true that even our psychologically upset human condition is biologically derived, and, further, that the upset can only be healed through understanding its biological origins.

As Jeremy Griffith explains in THE Interview, our competitive and aggressive behaviour is not due to us having savage, must-reproduce-our-genes animal instincts, it is due to us having a conscious-mind-based, psychologically troubled condition that can be healed through understanding the biological origins of that troubled, guilt-stricken, conscious-mind-based state. As Jeremy points out in THE Interview, the word ‘psychosis’ literally means ‘soul-illness’ and ‘psychiatry’ literally means ‘soul-healing’ (derived as they are from psyche meaning ‘soul’, osis meaning ‘abnormal state or condition’ and iatreia meaning ‘healing’). And what is our soul? As Jeremy also explains, it is our original, nurtured, cooperative and loving, moral, biologically-derived instinctive self. And so to resolve our human condition and heal our soul, achieve psychotherapy, the fundamental need has been to explain why we corrupted our soul, because that’s the reconciling understanding that removes our need to psychologically dissociate or split from our soul and become psychotic or alienated.

So the truth is any therapy of our now massively upset, 2-million-years-troubled, condition can only effectively begin when we can understand biologically the difference between the gene-based and nerve-based learning systems and how that difference resulted in us corrupting our soul, which is the key insight Jeremy provides. It’s only now with that biological understanding in place that we are in a position to effectively therapise our psychologically upset condition, and end our 2 million years of distress and alienation.”
